Kameraden! It looks like the Ami Schweinen are getting themselves organised, so let's do the same. Any kit / equipment you may have to enhance our experience, post it here. (I know someone's got a nice flysheet... ) I'll be bringing my Zeltbahn tent and (hopefully) be sleeping at our little HQ.
As I read it, the following have either booked, or expressed the desire to book:
Martin R
Timbo
Jimbo
Lardy
Seanebabes
Steiner
Owen
Deinhardt
And at least 5 other old friends of mine who have expressed an interest - I don't want to presume and add you to the list, but you know you're most welcome to join us.
By winter '44, kit is varied, but I suggest going for basic Feldgrau wools with white-piped Infanterie shoulderboards, if anybody is contemplating buying kit for this event. You would also have seen greatcoats, parkas, padded over-trousers, snow suits, etc! But, from experience, I have skirmished in sub-zero temperatures, lying on frosty ground, in just wools and a jumper underneath, and been absolutely fine. That said, the greatcoat with belt order on top is a classic look. I might go for that if it's really cold!
I have an M35 helmet to lend for free, also. It's currently painted for DAK, so I'll include a nice splinter cover - shout for first dibs on it. (Helmets do look better, IMO.)
I'll be going for the full kit challenge as usual! Anyone else Mann enough for it?
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
Looking forward to meeting you chaps
I reckon ill pick up a neck toque and a greatcoat as they look really good together

Now thats throwing down the gauntlet
I have duplicated the call to arms on the Alte Hasen section
It will be good for the 26VGD to have their own camp, will be bringing my zelt
Greatcoat look will be most apropiate I think, with torque and gloves. Improvised winter camo should the weather be harsh
I agree with the fieldgrey & helmet look. Greatcoats if it is cold enough. Minimal camo and as many rifles as possible would be a plus too.
I was going to ask 'with a 600 round limit who will be brave enought o take rifles out'?
(we will be )
Oh yes rifles all the way! It just means we have plenty extra for the MGs.

Huh! Easy-peasy semi-automatics don't count, cheating Amerikana!

I've had a couple of toques - one good, one bad. The good one I think I got from Richard Underwood, and it is thin and a long enough length to cover your ears, go under the helmet, and tuck into the neck of the tunic. The other one I think I got from ebay, and it was too thick and not long enough, so buy carefully.
[edit] Yes, this looks a good one. http://www.richardaunderwood.com/produc ... cts_id=267
Greatcoats do look great... (sorry), but you're looking at £100 or more. I would advise if funds are limited, to wear your Feldgrau wools, and if it's wet, wear your splinter Zeltbahn as a rain cover (most effective they are too). You can wear your belt kit on top of the Zeltbahn as well - very commonly done.

You should be able to pick up a cheap grey sweater on Ebay for a couple of quid. Similarly gloves. A toque is splendid as it stays in place, but a scarf would be as good for keeping you warm. Again, very cheap.
I worried before Sevastopol that I would be cold without a great coat, but I wasn't. Nice and toastie actually and ended up taking gloves and toques off at various times. So I think sweater and gloves and you should be fine., should need agreat coat, although it does look good.
We're more likely to suffer at night or in base when sat around doing nothing. Mind you, should be able to brew up then. I should be bring a nice Juwel stove to keep the kettle going.

aww, we cantt help it if we lead the way in innovations and technology.
Anyway, it is what we have instead of MG34 every other man

Having bought it, I'm damn well going to wear it! I do seem to be rather lonely in lugging my e-tool around to every game though
I've only got my French Army tent but would like to camp out on the front line if that is OK.
I'll bring some sort of rifle, probably my G43 with the K98 as a backup. I suspect this is going to be a very SMG intensive game with so many of the re-enactors getting their first airsoft weapons. Will be in wools and helmet as usual, and ankle boots for this one.
I was pondering getting a greatcoat anyway, but I wouldn't fancy playing a game in one. My British one weighs a ton and I guess the German ones do too. I have played in deep snow and sub zero temperatues in just wools, and it is fine (cotton too, but you need your thermals).
Once we've got a good idea who has paid up to come we can get organised into groups.
Cheers
Martin

All the more reason to use a rifle then, to show them how it should be done.
What? the one game were a STG44 doesnt look out of place and everyones
is going with bolties
Im sure this is a cunning Ami plan
Wladek is only scared that this will be our TOE:
Schutze 1 MG
Schutze 2 STG44
Schutze 3 MG
Schutze 4 STG44
Schutze 5 MG
Schutze 6 STG44
Seems ok to me
As VG we could have 8 man squads so you need an extra 44 plus one sniper with a 500ps k98.
I'm only suggesting rifles for those that have them because otherwise with all the possible newbies it has the potential for everyone having an AEG. That combined with a 600 round limit could lead to it being a blatfest, which is just poo!
I will be using my StG44 - it's very effective on semi-auto, uses far less ammo, and feels more authentic. Yes, Ami Schwein, we have our own Wunderwaffen!
Since I'm off work this week, I may well get some pics of me in suggested loadouts - partly as a kit guide, and partly because I like tarting around in Feldgrau.

True true. Though reading through Fritz info, it seems ammo won't be a set 600 per life. Unless im reading this wrong, its the Rear echelon's discretion to issue more ammo.
Oh bugger, we have inadvertently led to the ghastly '44s being used .... What if I promise to find springfields for us?
and ah, 600 rounds for the weekend with the possibility of re-issue, now THAT sounds interresting.
Now that would be more like it. Definitely rifle friendly too.
I'll certainly bring the fly sheet if we have enough room in the car, I've only got my Polish bell tent but that looks like a zelt so should be good enough. Feldgrau and greatcoat for the evening and will be using the Kar 98
