I was speaking to his wife this afternoon - it seems a very bad break (broken bone sticking out of the foot sort of job), operating at the weekend when the swelling has gone down then 8-12 weeks recovery.

Hi guys thanks for the concern home at last, 
15 days in hospital,and 2 operations was more than enough 
. As always you cannot fault the front-line NHS Staff they really are fantastic.I now have a rod running from just below the knee to my ankle held in place by numerous screws staples every where, a multi coloured leg due to the bruising but the pain killers are working, this is what happened... a concrete reinforced beam 3.6 mtrs in length weight about 220kg toppled off the trl i was loading, got a glancing blow on the head(and now the FG role seems even more appealing 
) before it hit my leg just above the ankle,i was a little dazed and didn't feel any pain initially and tried to stand up, on the second attempt realised i couldn't feel my foot and decided it might be a good idea to stay down as the bone was sticking through the skin. 
Got some photos so will stick em on here when i can get em off my phone.So its going to be a while before i get into to the FG role again but all the frustration will be vented at my next event lets hope all your paper work is in order
