Sorry chaps, as there aren't enough players booked to make this WW2 adventure work we are sadly having to bring the Hut 9 concept to a close.
But GOOD NEWS.
Graften Park is an excellent, interesting and historical site and it would be a mammoth shame to lose another WW2 airsoft game from the calendar.
So we are currently putting together a new plan that has all of the hallmarks of Comrades in Arms games we have enjoyed organising and playing over the years.
It will bring a scenario never done before, periods of beastly action interspersed with non-direct combat activity and require guile, cunning and expertise.
The emphasis will be on a more realistic approach to combat rather than how Hollywood depicts war, and will be gritty, challenging and fun.
Camping will all be in one place and there will be a jolly social in which to chat and unwind.
Grafton Park is a flat site so not a killer, bikes and vehicles are welcome.
Oh,and both sides will wear uniforms and have guns.
I shall weep sir - Weep!
But good news that something else arises.
Bugger. My dastardly escape kit turned up today as well.
Oh Bloody F%$&@€g hell just as I rearrange/postpone my holiday to make it. I've spent ages working out a character. There are still two months to go...
So absolutely 100% unamused.
I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.

It is easy to forget how hardcore you are Charlie
(there will be something going in the place , something else good I am sure)
Sorry Charlie, CiA are also totally gutted that Hut 9 has proved not viable, as a huge amount of work has gone into it. Luckily, the new scenario is one that we have had on the backburner for a while as well and, will tick all of the boxes for those looking for "immersive" games, in the midlands, that don't go into the hours of darkness.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Is Hut 9 gone for good then? Never to be rearranged at a date when those that could not make are available?

Nope, it's binned. There's just not enough interest in that type of game (no idea why myself but, there you go).

Yeah, Hut 9 was designed around Grafton and the game style needs a big site and a decent number of players else the whole thing is either silly with people bumping into each other or impossible to make a game of. Big sites are easy to hide/evade in, small sites you can see movement without searching!
Also Hauptman Horn 2 will never see the light of day, god only knows what players will make of a game with only one side.

Sorry Charlie, but without a booking a confirmation that people are attending, we're unable to hang on for prospective bookings.
The redrawn plans will have some good elements of immersion and a lot of options for folk to play in different roles.
So, apart from being available on the date of the game, there's really no excuse for folks not to attend!
We've looked at what sort of games people are asking for, we've looked into the availability of people to attend and have adjusted our plans accordingly.
This will still be a CiA event by type and will focus on the sense of immersion and gameplay. It's a game we'd want to play.

Thanks Pete, it's such a shame, I really do feel for all the organisers. Some cracking games are being cancelled, and in particular the E&E in the dark was what was really appealing to me about Hut 9.
The problem is so many games are getting cancelled that it becomes increasingly difficult to convince yourself to commit, it's not only the time, I've also spent so much money on kit etc for cancelled games - Bergen for Chariot, Welch Home Guard for my inevitable capture at Hut 9 spring to mind immediately.
It's horribly disheartening for players too and makes you wonder what's the point.

Well, perhaps we can find a way to shoehorn in an E&E scenario at dusk just for you Charlie!
I agree Charlie. We're just trying to make the best out of it. Having read all of the recent stuff about what people want from a game, we're bowing to those factors (which are the type of games CiA have always put on anyway!) and using another scenario that we have, which fits this fantastic, centrally located site.
If you really want a night time E&E, we can just chase after you after a few beers at the social! (But not in a gay way!).

E&E
Excited & Erect.
Bollocks, will have to re-evaluate attendance, depending on the new scenario.

Ah, a nocturnal squirrel hunt

Well its a great shame that Hut 9 has been cancelled but can understand with numbers and all. Personally I thought it was not only a cracking idea but just seemed like a huge amount of fun. It ticked so many of the boxes of immersive/alternative/niche whatever you want to call it. Still on the bright side you have a replacement in the pipeline cant wait to see what the new one will be

We can build a role for you.
This is a tragic disappointment! I can't believe such a interesting scenario didn't get the numbers, thanks for the effort by organisers, will look out with excitement for the new scenario!!
I can stop practising my appalling Irish accent now
