Does anyone still play this?

I used to play a lot, and am tempted to download it again.

I always preferred the original version, which I still play occassionally. I do also play DOD:Source sometimes too.

I noticed Steam updated my copy the other day for some reason but I haven't been tempted - while I enjoyed it a good deal and played it to death when it came out (including many mods).

I loved Red Orchestra, but never had anyone to play against.

Yes, RO was very good (but I hated the tank bits) - but I'm very confused as to what is happening now, and when. RO2 seems to have been on the cards for years!

I think it is due out this year, but still no word when. I liked the tanks in RO, but they were at their best on big maps like Black Day July or when very limited on combined arms maps.

we've just started playing Red Orchestra, I think it's generally alright. Depends on who one plays with/against I suppose - I hate most people.

Well you hate most people in general so given its an online computer game its a miracle you don't despise them all.

yes I do .

I did amuse myself when advancing with some airborne on Carentan (on Darkest Hour) we got to the crest of the hill and everyone suddenly hit the dirt and started shooting at ridiculously long range. I shouted 'come on, what is this an Airsoft game' and laughed at myself for quite a while. ho ho ho.

Hmmm, doesn't look like it runs on Mac yet.

Will go with DoD Source.

FWIW, I got DoD: Source and am enjoying playing on some of the old maps I used to play on.

Anyone else up for a bit of retro WW2 gaming?

I'd be up for it sometime. I loaded it up the other night and was disappointed at the lack of new maps for it and the absence of British troops but, I still enjoyed the gameplay, the old Garand "ping" and the blast of the MG42.

If I remember correctly (I used to play it loads when it was being developed) its a sort of Counter Strike capture the flag in WW2 kit? Not much chance of skills at arms - just running and shooting a lot?

I loaded up that Resistance and Liberation and had a run around on one map - big! Looks a tad complicated though, huge reliance on coms as there is no 'radar' or HUD. I like the concept, I suspect I don't have the hours in the day (or can be bothered) to learn it. An 855Mb download wasted!

While I was messing I noticed Yith was playing Red Orchestra so I bobbed in and shot him a bit The two new maps I played on were a bit silly. One a big quadrangle where everyone ran to the middle (or sniped from the outside like I did - probably someone was screaming 'camper' ) and the other was inside a building with glass walls.

RnL is probably the most authentic WW2 game I have ever played, you need to play it at peak times though so like 6-9 oclock to get full servers but it is an amazing mod.
