Re: S&S no.4 Lee Enfield rebuild

I will shape the edges more, although I think I’m near the limit, but first must make the hop totally secure and sure that it can’t move. The mags do come apart so I might delve in to see what’s left in material to shape. If I go through and it’s just a void, I’ll use filler. Have ordered a couple m...

Re: S&S no.4 Lee Enfield rebuild

I’ve seen stock duplicators up for sale, £1000-1200 or there abouts, but I agree with you, to either buy or make one, is a lot of effort/money probably for very little return. Got the mag as low as I can, in the stock. I will order a few more so if I destroy one it won’t matter. Still waiting for my...

Re: S&S no.4 Lee Enfield rebuild

No support at all, old hop unit was pinned straight to the lower stock, so old, no hop adjustment. Can’t say on anything else, as that’s all there was. I was toying with the Idea to put a vsr receiver and barrel section in, but I don’t think there’s enough wood to cover it, plus the mag well was way...

Re: Airsoft MG34

That’s looking good! Lots of work! I made a mock up of one years ago, to hang on a 1941 bmw combo, I made the whole lot too, but nowhere near the detail you have there. Great work. The AGM mg42 runs a flexi from the mag to a block, top feeding into the hop, that’s about the only thing on my one that...

Re: S&S no.4 Lee Enfield rebuild

Ok, mag fitted, does hang a tad low, I can remove a bit more from mag casing, but this is the lowest mag, in height I could find, even lower than a vsr mag. Fires Ok, tdc hop adjustment works too! Have fitted rear screw to the hop unit but needs another in front by the mag well to be secure. I’ll ha...

Re: S&S no.4 Lee Enfield rebuild

Slimmed and fitted hop unit, aligned barrel. Just waiting for a bit of jbweld to set, used it as a levelling bed. Think of some way to secure the hop, so it can be removed and then, hopefully we will test firing.
Will probably make some sort of top centre hop adjustment.

Re: S&S no.4 Lee Enfield rebuild

A vsr type trigger box fitted, and below a vsr type hop unit to fit, that will probably need slimming down a bit.....got a few of these so if it doesn’t go right first time.........

Re: Side feed hop unit

Yes, the mag being lower, is one of the reasons to make a working prototype, if I can make a straight line one, I can make one slightly longer with maybe a 30 degree angle to it. I was thinking of using mini gun para 249 hop unit to start with and adding a tube, I have two of these, but I have more ...

Re: Side feed hop unit

Not an FG 42, a Johnson 1941 LMG, going to attempt two at once, hence the reason for side feed hop unit. Nearly done on conversion to the test bed AK, so until I get a result from making a working prototype, I won’t start the project guns.

S&S no.4 Lee Enfield rebuild

Amongst other things to do, I’ve just started, at last, a re-do of one of Warrens old Enfields, I have had this for some time and have very slowly collecting parts for it. Based on the old type aps 2 which is much the same as the Well mb01 (L/96) in part. I’ve opted for a complete donor gun, quite c...

Nice job, nice colour! Did you make the pipe in two pieces, or printed complete tube?

Re: Many Thanks, The Good The Bad and The Ugly

For what started as a dubious day weather wise, turned out to be another great Pacific theatre game, well done to Chris and Co., I managed to get to the last battle this time, and Pete was right, when Tom slipped away, team cohesion did also, was still a good battle though. I would gladly pay a bit ...

Re: Side feed hop unit

I did think about just turning it on it’s side and do a “ tdc “ type of hop adjustment, and for the barrel placement, to sleeve over the hop on the clip part drill and tap the sleeve to clamp the barrel, much the same as airsoft pro do some of their replacement hops. I just wanted to see how it woul...

Gun pattern to card

I don’t know how other people do it, but if I’ve got paper drawings printed out they seem to get messy very quickly in the workshop area, so I transfer mine for rough sizing to cardboard this gives me a full size look at things when doing the builds. Some guns I’ve had to size from photos only, so t...
