Black and white Telnyashka weren't introduced until the Naval Infantry were reformed in the 1960s. All Telnyashkas in wartime were navy blue.

I don't think you'll have a problem with them splitting as the baggy cut prevents it. I've certainly never heard about it happening with German trousers Like booted says if you've not ordered yet go for an M36 or 40 to give a bit more flexiblity date wise. I'd probably go for the darker green helmet...
