Afraid that makes no odds, it's measured with a .20 on the chrono, sorry.

er... that's naughty. :whip:

Fps must always be measured with .20g bbs. It's the kinetic energy that really matters and though the fps may go down with .36g bbs, the energy won't.

I didn't think of that. My A-Level physics is coming back to me now ! Give me the benefit of the doubt and assume I'm stupid rather than trying to cheat :)

Don't worry, its a very common mistake and even some seasoned airsofters still don't understand!

If you were chrono'ing at 362fps, what weight BB were you using?

.25's

I haven't fired it with .2's. May be worth trying to see if I get any extra range. I assume it's a 25m minumum engagement for rifles over 350 ?

Which leads me to my second problem, in that my pistol options are a spring 1911 or a gas Styer which doesn't scream GLOCK19!!!! but still isn't period. How tight are you on pistols ?

ah from experience with my VSR, 362 fps with .25s should be about 405fps with .2s.... you'll be fine as a sniper.

362fps @ .25g = 1.52J = 405fps @ .2g

Non-period is OK. If you have to use , you have to use it, its not like you will be waving it around all game....

That makes it 1.51j.

This link states that a gun firing a .2g bb at 1.49j is firing at around 400fps, so you can put your gun at 400fps or higher using 0.2g bbs

The Arnie's Airsoft calculator states that a gun firings .25g bbs at 1.51j should have an effective range of about 50m. Although there are many factors that will affect effective range!

Have you guys got a chrono that you will be bringing ?

As for pistols, I'll try and keep it hidden unless I am threatened at close range. Or I can bring my blank firing 45 and blast away with that :)

Yes we have several of our own chronos . We tend to get them out on request rather than wave them around if that makes sense. See me / Chomers the night before if you want to chrono anything .
