the asg should be ok , may well be a re branded jg , it just has to be compatible with standard vsr part's for when thing's wear out.

from the dboys barrel remove the rear sight , file it into a curve underneath to fit over the vsr outer barrel , the vsr outer barrel extends all the way to the upper wood hand guard , i usually retain the semi circular collar that goes over the upper hand guard when i cut off the sight. you can never get the rear sight to sit as low as it should so a little packing under the semi circular collar means it can still be used to hold down the rear of the top hand guard. some people just glue the rear sight on with a product called "JB weld" , i tend to screw it onto the barrel using the two pre existing holes toward the rear of the sight as well as using some glue.

i'd start out with the vsr barrel and see how it performed , modding an aeg barrel can be fiddly , you'd have to cut off the part of the aeg barrel with the hop window in it and crown it (put a conical returned angle inside the end ) and then cut the location slots accurately into the sides and the groove along the bottom , it can all be done but it's tedious work that needs accuracy , i have a lath and mill and it's easier for me but it could be done with needle files and a counter sink tool .
i guess it comes down to what you want the rifle for , 350fps and the range is less likely to be affecting accuracy, 500fps and you need higher accuracy from the barrel.

looks like a good start , the woodwork has a whitish under coat that does not take a stain , you need to be quite aggressive when rubbing it down otherwise when you stain it it comes out blotchy .

Took a look today at my old VSR conversion in an effort to spruce it up for this years events - it struck me that I probably took a little too much off in the mag well area causing the rifle to misfeed occasionally :x - any one have any tips on what to use to fill the gaps? was thinking milliput, then sanding it down gradually. Any other thoughts?

How about gluing in some black plasticard ? you can get it in A4 size sheets in a variety of thinkness from 0.5mm to 2.0mm and it can be easily cut, sanded and shaped to size. You could glue it to the Magwell or to the Mag's themselves which might be easier!?

So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

That's a good idea, I thought of simply using tape to build up the magwell wall, but this sounds a much better plan :good:

Does anyone happen to know if you can get 'straight bolt handles' anywhere? Or would one have to 'make one'?

straight like the mosin nagant or with a 90 degree bend like the k98 ? not too sure either can be found on their own as they come as part of the bolt in both cases .nearest thing is the mouser l96 modern sniper rifle but even that has an angle backward and the ball bit is too big,i have one of those if you want it .

i think on the mosin it's part of the whole bolt and not a separate part so you might have to make one :(
