Have run into a bit of an issue with my build. Almost everything is cut, shaped and ready to assemble but I've noticed that the screw holding the barrel assembly down onto the stock isn't used in this conversion and the screw holes at the rear of the reciever holding the action into the stock through the trigger plate don't line up to be used. How have you guys got around this? I've noticed some people using a bit of the rear of the dboys reciever to hold the back down but what about the front?

there is a small screw that holds the outer barrel (vsr part ) onto the breech (vsr part) ,this screw is at the bottom at the front of the breech and is slightly out of line with the front trigger guard assembly screw hole ,you can either slot the hole in the trigger guard so it lines up or drill out the hole off set in the breech and re tap it to 5mm thread ,the latter is a better solution but harder to do ,either way i'd re drill and tap the hole to 5mm as it's stronger ,you need a 4.2mm drill and m5 tap ,both can be found cheap on ebay and don't have to be high quality as its only alloy.

Thanks, I've got a tap set here. Wasn't sure on the ability to tap this metal without just ploughing through it. I'll maybe epoxy a nut onto it too just to give an extra bit of thread to make sure I don't strip it.

Aha, small problem, my base rifle is a Bar-10 I think so it doesn't have the same mounting holes. (I have a TM VSR here for reference so I know the bit you meant)

It looks like any mounting hole I'd drill might go through the little screw on panel that holds the outer barrel to the receiver, not that this would be an issue as a dirty great bolt would hold it just fine too. I'll just have to be extra careful with the measuring and tapping.

that is exactly the screw hole i meant ,it is just off line with the trigger guard screw hole .i think its a 3mm screw hole you need to drill out to take a 5mm screw but the new hole has to be off centre from the original if you can understand what i mean.

I've almost got mine finished now but as I was trying to mount the sight onto the barrel theres a load of material that would need to be very carefully ground away. How did everyone else approach this? I was considering taking that section out of the bar10 barrel but am a bit concerned as it sits right over the hop and don't want it to interfere too much. Ideas?

You just have to roughly cut as much as you can from under the sight ,then to get a nice fit I take the cut off piece of the vsr outer barrel and wrap it in course sand paper and use it to shape the under side of the sight ,move to a finer wet n dry paper as you get closer the shape you need , it takes a bit of time but you get a nice fit .Once its shaped I attach it with 2 counter sunk screw's at the rear end ,the holes are already there ,I also use an epoxy glue under the sight for extra strength and to fill any small gap's .how are you planning on hop adjustment ?

I've removed the slider and going to tap a hole for a grub screw through the sight block directly onto the top of the hop lever arm.

Is there someone on here who offers conversions on VSR's?

Hi all, where do you source your trigger guards from? I have been searching through Ebay for months and haven't manged to find any at a decent price (sub £40). Or do you get them from the US? Hope this hasn't been covered already but I couldn't find any links to trigger guards only stocks and other metal bits.
Thanks for the help

I took my trigger guard from the chinasoft DBoys base rifle that the stock came from. I think that's what most of the conversions use rather than trying to use genuine (expensive!) pieces.
