pps k98 not firing

Postby Tiger tank sean » Tue Sep 13, 2016 11:33 pm

hi
not sure what the problem could be but my pps k98 stopped working, it cocks fine but when fired no co2 comes out ive checked the screw inside the bolt that is tight and ok. it seems as if the hammer isnt striking the striker on the magzine hard enough to jet the co2
i dont have a manual so im stripping parts i know how to but im at a loss i dont want to buy another mag at £77 just to find its still not working
cheers sean

Is the small spring under the back of the mag present?

Not the best image but here's the diagram page from the manual Image
Just a minute and I'll grab a mag and take a better pic.

You can see the small spring under the back here. It lifts the back lever into position to strike the release valve.

Will it still vent some co2 when you press the release valve?

hi
yes it vents co2 but i have to put loads of pressure on it to push it in, ie hold mag on door frame and push very hard. which leads me to think hammer cant do it??

Yeah I can vent the green gas mags with a firm push it a thumb on the lever. I know the co2 mags came with an extra spring and some made mention of using that when the bulb pressure was too much to be overcome.
I've also spotted some sites recommend using a different hammer. http://begadishop.com/catalog/product_i ... 97024hrov4
Not sure though, I always thought the mags were interchangeable without mods. Must be a harder metal.

Those stop the bolt handle from moving up after you've cocked it and put the handle back down ready to fire. Other than making the bolt loose they shouldn't really affect the ability to fire.
I had problems with the striking power of my bolt and it was down to a loose screw in the rear of the bolt. I threadlocked it and it's been fine ever since.
Give me a minute and I'll see if I can disassemble my bolt and send you a pic.

Here's the ball bearing and the spring is still set in the hole. It looks to be about 3.5mm, I don't have my calipers handy to be more accurate. A pen spring would do and bearings are really cheap on eBay.

And here's the part that was the culprit. This was just constantly working loose so needed threadlocked in place. As it was loosening you could see the shots getting shorter and shorter range.

The above is exactly what I'd expect to be the problem.
armoury
m1a1 Thompson,sten mk2,mp40,stg44,sterling,mk2 bren gun,lee Enfield no4 mk1,Mauser Kar98, Walther ppk,smith and Weston m10 and Mauser m712
Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......

It could be either the hammer has worn down and needs replacing with the steel one or the striker spring might need switching to the stronger one you get with the co2 mags -
