Re: S&S no.4 Lee Enfield rebuild
The old S+S No4's have a lot going for them , the breech casting is a great part , most people struggle with the joint between the Butt and the rest of the rifle but that casting is very like the genuine part but designed for APS 2 trigger and cylinder set rather than a real bolt and trigger set , its a good bit of design .

Here’s some pic’s of the old barrel and hop, you can see no adjustment.

Re: S&S no.4 Lee Enfield rebuild
A bit more done this evening, close it finish now, a last strip down, for paint and check everything is ok. Must remember to drop fps, as it’s running at 392 fps at the moment, my guess would have been lower than that, as I can cock the rifle on shoulder, but according to my chrono that’s where it’s at.
I had to fit the cylinder that came with the donor gun, as though I have another cylinder the thread is different from the head,.....and the cyl head that I’ve got that fits the cylinder.......has a different configuration of nozzle.....airsoft, don’t you just love it!

Yes that was a bit of a fluke, when first fitting the arm thought “ here we go, grief “ but was almost there straight away.
Whole thing is nearly done, fires very well. Will try to work out distance overall, but it’s accurate at 25 metres so far. Has developed a tight spot on the pull, after last tighten up.......so will strip it down again over the weekend.

That receiver looks wildly different from mine. Mine is made from brass(?) and can't keep any paint on it. Is it just the difference in when it was bought? I assume Elpus' is older than mine.
Why do you always carry that umbrella?
-Bad memory. Never could remember the password. Knew no Jerry would carry one. Had to prove I was an Englishman, you see.

Yes this one I have is very old, by airsoft standards. Even Warren said it was a very early one when I asked him a couple of years ago.
I belleive it is brass cast, then machined out to take metal bushings.......... It also looks like it has a hard life, and suffered some neglect, along with previous owner ham fistedness. Waiting for a new rear sight to appear then it's done.

I found that the length of the screws from the trigger guard into the breech have to be just right or you can foul on the cylinder , I've had to shorten them just a tad loads of times on final assembly .
It's looking very nice indeed , hard work paid off in full !

Last pic’s coming up, new rear sight, seeing as old one was knackered, and then off to new owner.
