Wehrmacht Combat Training Day - 30th May. CANCELLED FOR NOW

Postby Steiner » Sun Mar 14, 2010 9:54 pm

- Army Group South will be running a one day training course on Sunday, 30th May 2010 under the tuition of a few highly qualified members of the re-enactment and airsoft community.

The new location for this will be Finmere Airsoft site near the A421 in Buckingham.

The aim of the course is to give German players a grounding in authentic Wehrmacht drill and infantry squad tactics adapted for WWII airsoft events. There will be a combination of demonstrations and field exercises plus the usual evening social. The skills learned will be useful for players who plan on attending the upcoming Jedburgh and Dragoon Rising games.

Topics will include:
Preparing for battle.
The anatomy of a squad.
Understanding situation, mission and objectives.
The role of the squad leader and assistant squad leader.
Basic hand and whistle signals.
Using terrain.
Co-ordinated attack and defence tactics.

The cost is £25 and places will be limited. You'll need to have basic Heer or Waffen SS infantry kit and a suitable weapon. Bookings now open!

Eating will be "in the field". You will need to supply your own food, and carry it all with you, including means of heating it up, if required.

Sorry guys, we just couldn't get the numbers for this one - a number of people were away on holiday, so we'll reorganise it for another time. Refunds on their way.

That sucks guys, but then, as we discovered last year, Bank Holidays are a difficult time for people to free up.

Just about any other weekend and I could have made it.
"Will you stop talking about the war!!"
"What, you started it!"
"We did NOT start it!"
"Yes you did, you invaded Poland..."

Sorry to hear about this, as I was looking forward to it and had all of the "lessons" I was doing planned and ready to rock. The same as Milton Hall, there were lots of "yes please" but not many actual takers. Better luck next time.

Thanks for the positive vibes, Kameraden. :good: Yes, we sort of shoe-horned it in to an already busy schedule, as best we could, but a number of peeps said that it was just a bad weekend for them. We're all still keen to do it, so keep your eyes open for an update.

Danke.

I would really love to do some of this stuff as it is what interests me the most (how it was all put together in the field). I'm away all of August, so not August please.
Autumn? Just before all the leaves fall so we still have cover to work with?

It probably won't be until next year now, as there's an event on every month of 2010.
Boshman is cooking up something cool that will hopefully entice more folk into playing regular Heer.... 8)
