SAS Tasks

Postby Sgt.Heide » Thu Jun 17, 2010 9:21 pm

We are tasked with conducting recce patrols, close target recce's, intelligence gathering, dominating supply routes by means of ambushes and mines and, also with linking up with Jedburghs and assisting them, by sharing information and coordinating operations.

In order to to carry out these tasks, you will need to stay focussed. You will not be able to switch off for a second whilst out on operations. When in the relative security of the harbor area, we will still need to mount and rotate sentries, while others have down time to prepare food, etc. Do not underestimate the challenge of staying switched on for hours on end, the "lives" of all of us depend upon it.

In order to lay ambushes and dominate enemy supply routes, we will need to secure a supply of explosives, cached from airdrops by the Maquis. We can also block roads with logs/fallen trees, etc. Well laid and disciplined ambushes will create havoc with the enemy and force them to waste resources looking for us, as well as make them very cautious when using roads or tracks. This will then give us time and space to conduct our main tasks, which are to locate enemy assets and headquarters. Once these things are located, we will formulate a plan with our Jedburgh teams to launch a coordinated assault on them.

Any questions?

Since part of our role is to harass the enemy by mining and blocking roads, if anyone has BFG type devices which we can use to booby trap landmines with, they would come in handy (9mm or .22 blanks only). Just imagine, a German thinks he's been dead clever finding and removing a mine, only for the grenade concealed underneath it to kill him as he lifts the mine. This will also have the added effect of the enemy being overly cautious with mines encountered after this, wasting valuable time and resources. You would get the BFG handed back to you at the end of the event, as well as a lot of kudos!

To assist us with our recce tasks, if you have binoculars or spotting scopes, you may find them very useful!

Cheers Matt, that'd be great. You'll have to show me how to load it though!
