ANOTHER POLL!!!!? :slap:
Who's prepared to do a 24hr/36hr game? Now this can be in any capacity. Doing a stint on stag, patrolling, going out on a mission to sabotage or collect supplies! So if you fancy a little or a lot of night time action. click yes! If this sounds like hell to you and you'd rather skewer your ball bag with a rusty nail (if you have a ballbag  ) then click no!

No. Getting shot in the dark is no fun - have experienced it once. Usually very close action and very painful.

Remember, it may be in any capacity, even a no shooting scenario.

I would not necessarily be against the idea but think this style of games need careful management as there are unique problems.

People getting lost, total overkill because you dont know someone has taken there hit, games losing there cohesion etc

I know Porta uses glow sticks when people are hit in order to stop overkill so there are ways around the problems but needs careful planning.

Yeah, I'd like to try it.

Share the concerns mentioned above. Not sure I'm wild about camping in the field for the sole reason of sleeping in safety glasses. Would prefer to play eight hours or so then kip in the safe zone.

run a couple of after dark ones, they are good but not in woods - and not with guns. Had a 24 hr scenario on the burner for ages.

"Dusk" and halflight is great in woods, like the evening attack at Scaulen.

A 24/36 hour 'game' is fine as long as there is somewhere safe to sleep, but 36 hours of running and gunning no thanks. I dont think any of us have the physical fitness to do that anyway.

Done the night-time shooty airsoft game thing. Painful and extremely dangerous for tripping hazards etc. let alone point blank full auto to the face.

Night games with creeping about recce/evasion type stuff are fine.

Sitting around the in-game camp fire having a brew and banter, even finer. :good:

Cheers
Martin

Given the Yes/No options I have voted No.

This is for similar reasons to those given by Martin. Full on Airsoft in the dark will end with people in hospital.
Given options for non shooting patroling and sentry this may work. Organising so that players got some sleep would be important. I have done night ops at a couple of Gunman's Cold War games and have opted to not take weapons as we could not fire them anyway. We did come close to losing a group and having a way of finding all your players without calling out the police should be included in your planing.

All very sensible comments :good: and I'm sure organisers can consider them and implement them if needed.
For me, a night time experience is about anticipation of being rumbled! A no gun policy could work in such circumstances. Recces, collecting supplies or as with the Albany game, a night drop where getting to your rendezvous point whilst avoiding patrols would be epic :happydance:

I echo all of the above. We tried it, but people quit as they couldn't do anything. Dusk is fun though. Taking 1-2 hours just to get into position at Schaulen was one of the best experiences in airsoft I've had. Also the night escape at Craig's last game was great fun.

Jedburgh had a dusk patrol where we were driven down a track and came back to the camp...... That was atmospheric! Yep the evade and capture was good at Craig's last game. I would think people would need to get some sleep though. I know I would. :D

No, (not too hardcore are we  ) for all the above reasons and because it's bad enough driving home after a normal weekend's airsofting, doing it with none sleep would be positively dangerous.
