Hello from Essex

Postby Granger » Thu Oct 16, 2014 1:02 pm

Hello all! Long time lurker, first time poster.

I've been historical wargamer for several years now, mainly playing1/56 scale Bolt Action, and have finally decided to join airsoft. Originally I had planned to collect deactivated firearms but my friend mentioned the Sten mk2 AEG and I have since completely fallen in love with ww2 airsoft.

I have been reading the Paras kit thread in the British Uniform forum and have most of my kit which is based on info from that thread. I have my first airsoft game this Saturday at Billericay and am looking forward to purchasing my own sten before Christmas if I can get the games in.

I look forward to maybe seeing some of you on the field in the near future!
Regards,

Ralph

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Which armies do you collect? So far I have rounded off my 8th Army force which I must finish painting but I'm already eyeing up some Soviets for my next army.
Regards,

Ralph

Hello and welcome,

following the kit guides is a sensible way to go and it is easy enough to morph airborne into normal infantry or whatever for more restrictive kit events.

Any questions, fire away.

Quite a few of us are wargamers too, although for WW2 I'm a 6mm, 15mm and 20mm guy.

Cheers
Martin

I'm seriously considering running a game of Bolt Action or something at Benevento next year on the Friday evening. Should have the camper van by then.

Welcome to the forum, mate. Any kit you don't have we'll most likely be able to sort you out. I can always loan you a Sten until you've got your own.

It's great to see so many Bolt Action players here. It looks like I'm in great company. As it happens Granger is the name of my heroic veteran First Lieutenant though his desert rats are slowly being outnumbered by the large amount of Red Devils I seem to keep buying.

With regards to the UKARA, do I need to play 3 games at the same site or can I split my games between 2? Colchester is much closer to me and they've just opened up a new site.
Regards,

Ralph

Three at the same, mate. For those of us who are only involved in WW2 airsoft and don't attend Open Day's, it can be an added hassle getting UKARA. Best bet is to just find a decent local site and bludgeon your way through three skirmishes. :good:

That's a shame. I'm sure I'll still have fun in my first game tomorrow. My friend has just got his German helmet and webbing sorted so there'll be at least 2 people in ww2 gear even if we will be using g36c's.
Regards,

Ralph

Yes, it is the site that gives you the registration. If you play for an organiser with multiple sites (like Gunman or First and Only) you can play at different sites.

Once I have my UKARA and I buy a sten, can I then use the sten at any site?
