Japanese and U.S.M.C. Kit review

Postby cjw957 » Thu Apr 21, 2016 12:00 pm

Hiki Japanese

Uniforms

there sizes for the japanese seem to be about right or a tad smaller , as opposed to there russian kit which I found to be larger than it said

The most common set bought is the 3/4 tropical as its cheap as chips, for a top and bottoms ,

the top is 3/4 length sleeves and full bottoms , it is rather thin but on a warm day this set would be a blessing and again for a top and bottom its not to pricey

http://www.hikishop.com/wwii-ija-tropic ... -p-97.html

The type 98 Uniform top and bottoms is quite nice, but the trousers can be a bit tight on the calfs

Officer trousers - good fit on the top end , but around the calfs they get very tight, i dont suspect mine are huge but i could only just squeeze my calfs in, and in the end chose to wear some looser trousers

Equipment
A popular item is the puttees, that really help tie the uniform together for that Japanese look , very nice quailty and seem well made, just dont ask me how to put on lol why i am wearing jack boots

Another popular item from hiki is there bread bag , water bottle and gloves set for a nice price , the bread bed seems well made and comes with a strap , handy for carrying lunch , ammo , grenades etc, water container is nice quailty but my first 1 leaked a little (every ones else was fine) , but i must stress dont hold it upside to down so the cork stopper enlarges as it jams the bottle and make ir near impossable to get open (hey matt  )

All there leather webbing etc seems quite nice , but ammo belt set ups can be found a lot cheaper on ebay

if you are buying a rifle belt set from hiki or ebay its can be finished off with a oil bottle that fits on the rear pouch - i though these were just goign to be resin etc but its a proper little oil bottle :)

There Caps are quite nice quailty but can get cheap ones from ebay which are not to bad , and most of them on the photos are this type and cost about £8

on the photo below from left to right ...

Hiki Tropical 3/4 set + puttees with unkown make hat

Sof Trousers - unknown make top and webbing (suspect it hikis)

Hiki Puttees and bread bag set , Sof top and cheap ebay cap and belt set

Hiki Tropical 3/4 set + puttees with cheap ebay hat and belt set

Sof Top and Bottoms , with cheap ebay cap and belt set up

Soldier of fortune , dont do much Japanese kit ...

There belt kits look to be the same you can get on ebay for nealry half the price

There uniform is nice quality and fits well , not to thin or thick , good all year round uniform , on the photo above you can see it been worn , its not the cheapest but can be had the very next day and if wrong size can be corrected easier than having to send back to china etc .

not seen there cap or helmet cover but look the same as the uniform so imagine would be quite nice, but once again if in no rush can get caps cheap on ebay

Hiki USMC kit

i have only tried a few items from them , but have been fairly impressed , there Hbt top and bottoms seem quite cheap and fit as they claimed and pretty good quality was happy for the cost .

http://www.hikishop.com/wwii-united-sta ... -1127.html

failry cheap if you are doing a order already , but with the pound being poo vs the dollar (at time of writing) maybe sof etc may be better as again easy to sort sizing issues if any

There Helmet cover seems a lot more green on the green side on other brand ones i have, the brown seems pretty much like all i have , now i no expert and sure they used many materials but not sure if any were this green , but seems well made and again not badly priced :)

Ebay

There are a varity of cheap japanese caps for sale on ebay from china , with prices from £5.50 posted ! just make sure to decide if you want one with a havelock fitted or not , most tend to be around the 59/60 so if you have a smaller head read the print just in case

Belt sets plenty again this time from india with the belt , 2 front ammo pouches, rear ammo pouch and bayonet holder , these seem to have gone up a bit recently (maybe as we bought a few :giggle: ) but they tend to come by dhl in about 5 days and quite good quailty and are great for the price
