10th SS panzergrenadeer Bn 25

Postby kalashnikov_kid » Tue Nov 25, 2014 1:00 pm

Hi guys,

Just doing a little research on this unit as it turns our my German fiance's grandfather was a corporal in this unit. Even though he is still alive there is only little information from him as he is getting a little more confused with each passing year. All i know so far is that he saw combat in France, Holland, and was captured by the Russians and wasn't released until Jan 1950.

I also know he was shot/wounded twice and recieved a iron Cross.

Any info is welcome, pictures would be a bonus

Thanks

Dave

Hi Have, I guess the Bn 25 stands for the 25th Regiment? If you want to know more about his career in the German army, you can file a request on www.dd-wast.de. It is the German office/archive for the all members of the forces in WWII.
Regards
Lutz

Hi, Thanks for the reply. Looking around the net it is more likely that he was 22nd regement (there may have been some error on my part with the translation!)

I'll take a look at the website link and see what comes up. Would love to see some pictures of them in the field as the only ones he has are posed.

Thanks

Have you tried checking the citation for his Iron Cross? It'll list his full unit details.

They're available online.
