Kit requirements

Postby Steiner » Mon Mar 15, 2010 8:59 pm

Since some reenactors may well be attending, we'll start with the most important item: eye protection. Please do not get some safety glasses from B&Q - they are most unlikely to be the required standard to stop a BB travelling up to 500 FPS. Decent eye protection is actually quite cheap nowadays. As an example, check out www.01airsoft.com - clear frame and lens glasses start at just £6.95.

Secondly, a German WWII airsoft weapon. No "captured" weapons and no "look-a-likes", please. There are enough K98s, MP40s and MP44s around - and some folks will be happy to lend a weapon for those without.

Uniform and equipment list to follow.

Kit requirements.

Pretty simple: any Heer or Waffen SS kit. (NWETO only, please. Since we'll be in typical European woodland, it doesn't really make sense to turn up in DAK / tropical uniform. Although "tropical" webbing was of course used on all fronts, and is perfectly acceptable.)
No restrictions on time period for kit or weapons - I am personally going for a mid-late war look, but either jackboots or low boots are fine.

Please bring full field kit - I'm not advocating that anyone needs to go and spend money on what they don't yet have, but let's make a good effort with this. Contrary to many photos of British soldiers (for example), the Landser was very rarely seen without full kit in battle.

If anyone has kit they're happy to lend, we have the usual thread.
