Mauser K98 Original Real Wood Stock and Original Ironwork for Sale

Mauser K98 real wood stock with metal fittings for sale,

Ironwork is numbered with matching numbers.

No spilts in wood and in unmessed with condition.

Wood looks like Burr Walnut

Original patina finish on the wood.

This is great for a conversion project, using BAR-10 which is what I bought it for, until I came across another K98 project complete with BAR-10 internals.

Detailed thread with loads of pics of how to do this appears on here:

viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1613

Apparently one of these K98 stock and ironwork sets recently sold on ebay sold for over £200.

Asking £145 all in for quick sale.

Will consider part exchange for K98 rear sight assembly (original or repro) to complete my current K98 project, or P/X for any WW2 gear, Brit, German or U.S.

pics up shortly-- attachment is not available --

I believe that someone on here told me that because of the cut out in the rear of the stock for the sling, that It could pass for a G33 "mountain trooper", due to the top handguard having the cutout for the rear sight.

Looks like a Czech Vz.24 stock to me, or maybe a spanish M43. the Yugo M48 stocks normally have the through slot for the sling.

I think £200 would be for a genuine waffenampt german Kar98 stock and even that is a lot!

“I wanted to come to the Volga at a specific location at a specific city. By chance it carries the name of Stalin himself. So don’t think I marched there for this reason – it could carry another name – but because there is a very important goal... this goal I wanted to take – and you know – we are very modest, we have it already."
Adolf Hitler, November 1942

"Comrades, Red Army men, commanders and political workers, men and women guerrillas! It is on your perseverance, staunchness, fighting skill and readiness to discharge your duty to the country that the defeat of the German-fascist army and the liberation of the Soviet land from the Hitlerite invaders depend! We can and must clear the Soviet land of Hitlerite vermin."

Did some digging when I first got it. Just found my original posting about it.

It's actually from a 1935 Chilean contract. It took a lot of checking, but the clincher was a very faint Cartouche on the LH of the buttstock. I had been trying to make it out and then I turned up a dealer listing on a mint one and the coat of arms marking made sense. According to the dealer's description they sound quite scarce.

There are also lots of stars on the fittings and one area of the buttstock. I will try and get some detailed images of the markings on my Mauser, but need to wait until I can borrow a decent camera.

There are loads of images of here:

http://www.collectiblefirearms.com/RiflesMauser.html

Here is what the text that accompanies it:

DESCRIPTION: Scarce Chilean police contract Mauser M.1935 carbine. Made by Mauser-Werke A.G., Oberndorf a/N., Germany, as indicated by markings on the left side of the receiver. Only about ten thousand of such carbines were manufactured by Mauser for the Chilean police force, "Cuerpo dos Carabineros". The receiver displays "Two Crossed Rifles" and the wording, "CHILE ORDEN Y PATRIA MODELO 1935". The back of the receiver displays nice "MAUSER" logo. A cartouche is stamped on the left side of the buttstock with a Crest of Chileand a date, "1935". A second, smaller cartouche is also stamped on the left side of the buttstock with letters, "CaE" (in the circle). All the major parts of the carbine show smallasterisks and letters, "C.Ch" (Carabina Chileana) , which is characteristic for this contract. All matching serial numbers, including the cleaning rod! The matching serial numbers are stamped on the receiver, barrel, bolt body, bolt cocking piece, bolt release lever, extractor, safety, trigger guard, magazine floor plate, rear sights, cleaning rod and on both barrel bands; there are no serial numbers stamped on all other parts of the rifle, which is correct for this model. All the serial numbers are factory original, and they were not restamped. Strong, 98-type action. Ramp and leaf rear sight calibrated from 100 to 1400 meter. Correct style, turned down bolt handle. Complete with cleaning rod and original leather sling attached to the left side of the stock. CONDITION: Fine+. 84% of original blue finish on the metal. Most of the wear is on the barrel, near the muzzle, on the trigger guard and on the magazine floor plate. The bolt and buttplate have polished steel finish. Solid stock in original finish with usual handling marks, dings and scratches. No cracks in the wood. Bore is in low excellent condition, with strong and shiny rifling. Very smooth action. The sling is in very good condition, with leather still being soft and flexible. Overall length is 42 inch. Barrel length is 21.5 inch. Small import markings are stamped on the barrel, near the muzzle. One of the most impressive Mauser military carbines ever manufactured!Serial# 30XX.

I am sure that I read somewhere that as Germany started to arm itself, that some of the Mauser K98s from these type of foreign contracts were never sent, but instead kept for German forces, or even bought back from the original countries that they were supplied to.

Perhaps someone with more knowledge can contribute.....
