Not something you see everyday...
Up for sale is my militarised 1928 Thompson, variants of which were used by British commandos and others in the early part of WW2.
It is based on new CYMA Thompson internals and retains the lower receiver, fore grip and pistol grip. Added are a 1928 stock, 1928 upper receiver with slotted top cocking knob and early pattern battle sight, finned barrel, cutts compensator and original Enfield sling. All looks pretty much as is should do apart from the later fire selector switches.
The additions were imported a few years ago from an outfit (in the Philippines I seem to remember) who hand crafted the kit. I didn't use the 1928 foregrip as it didn't look much like the real thing and I didn't much like the wood pistol grip either as to be strong enough to be hollowed out it was a bit too thick for comfort. So I used the CYMA plastic parts instead and painted 'em.
Now, here's the thing. I'm selling it as a project gun as the hop is turned off - I've used it like this for two games without problems but I recognised some like to use their guns at maximum range rather get close.
The hop is there but I can't get to it. The 'craftsmen' mad the upper receiver from three pieces of aluminium - top and two sides. The side pieces have four holes drilled and screws pass through these into the top piece. However, the thread tapped into the aluminium has stripped on one of the bolts and the bolt has dropped down meaning the upper receiver can't be slid off as the slipped bolt now obstructs it. I think it can be solved by a thin dremmel blade to cut the bolt but I never bothered because A) not having a hop didn't trouble me too much and B) it really needs some engineering expertise to work on the upper receiver construction as the four bolts thing isn't really the strongest or cleverest method.
