a quick question...
I never like going into these kind of games without some idea of the area, a bit of local knowledge goes a long way in these kind of events and what i've read most of the local knowledge is with the german side.
With that in mind i do remember from churchills a map being passed around. Does anyone have a copy of that map that can be posted up??
Obviously these kind of teams wouldnt have just jumped in blind or would have had local guides.
Just wondering coz its about my only concern right now and a map would be handy to study for a while.

Am I right in thinking a lot more of the forest has been cut down since churchills?

No. That overhead is old (actually from around the time of CR). If anything the site have grown up across the deforested areas.
Oh right thats cool then! I was wondering how we were going to tackle moving across open ground

The deforested areas are very overgrown now. This means there's lots of cover but, it's hard going. Also, don't forget the site isn't flat! There's lots of dead ground and undulations that provide excellent cover from view and for movement.

Right you are sir.
We're allowing far more time for movement/recces, etc, than at any other previous event as well. So, take your time, use the ground and stay switched on. You may have to lay up for long periods to avoid enemy patrols, so good route planning is essential.

I was originally planning on bringing my M1a1 Carbine to this game, fully expecting to not fire too many shots.
Should I bring something with a bit more firepower incase it is needed. My carbine is essentially a high power sniper rifle.
Yes, it's highly unlikely we'll want to engage from a distance. We'll want to lay down a load of fire, get in, then get out.
I'll see about borrowing a Thompson or some such
You can borrow my MP40 if you like.
Sure ok cheers HS, the cabine is small and light enough to chuck on a sling around my neck if a faster pace of fire is required
Seriously, you should only carry what you need. You certainly won't need two guns. There are photos of Jeds with carbines, but within the context of airsoft and with MEDs in play, you won't need it.
Also, I'll be asking for all slings to be removed from weapons. An essential piece of info that Pete gave us. A sling will encourage you to sling your weapon...it should be in your hands at all time.
Really? Thats interesting. What if you needed to do something which required 2 hands?
You have it right next to you, against a tree, on the floor. But while we're moving, it's in your hands.
"This is my rifle. There are many others like it, but this one is mine...etc."
Fair play.
My personal choice would be to have the sling for use when needing to carry out a 2-handed operation. Go by the rule that you should never be more than 3 feet from your gun at any one time.
For crawling through undergrowth, it is definitely better to remove the sling. Also, the immediacy of having the weapon in your hands at all times does sharpen the senses, I found.
Is the undergrowth all brambles?
You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier
