Please make sure your kit list has the following:

Essential:
Mess tin & cutlery (doesn't have to be authentic at all)
Watch

Desirable:
E-tool
Compass
Small notebook & pencil

We will establish a permanent HQ so excess baggage can be stashed in the compound. Bring food supplies, extra clothing, spare guns, batteries, ammo and all other kit with you into the game as game will run continuously from game-on to endex.

Will the HQ have any protection from rain/snow for our valuable kit stored there?

Allies will be moving up reinforce an existing remote outpost - there are unlikely to be adequate facilities suitable for such a large HQ. No doubt construction and improvement will be required.

It's every soldier's responsibility to look after his personal kit at all times and to be battle ready at a moment's notice.

Reports from previous survey teams indicate tarpaulins and other construction materials are available in the area.

I'll add to that list that gloves and a hat are also essential if it's anywhere near as cold as it was on Monday, plus wet weather gear....

This sounds really, really pathetic, but I may not be able to afford to but a watch for this (really really pathetic!) I generally use my mobile since my wrist chappy conked out.

Is it really really essential for lowly privates such as I?

No excuse... £5 from argos. It even looks period... I use one with a changed strap, even for "proper" re-enacting!

Wladek - it's not incredibly essential (but chuck the mobile and get a watch and your life will improve!). If you think you can rely on buddies to tell you what the time is, then fine - if everyone relied on someone else then there is a good chance no one will have a watch!

Just so you all know, the game is task-led. If you aren't in the right place at the right time, as ordered, then there is a good chance the enemy can sail through their objectives unimpeded. Unless they don't bring watches either.
