So, that time has come around again to say
"this Polish Saga things zipps around the second world war looking at the various and disparate Polish forces fighting in exile as they are an interesting and variable subject. This can leave the impression with some that the German forces are nothing but 'opfor', simple at the game to allow the Poles something to shoot at."
Whilst as far as 'the story' goes, there is an element of this - The German force for all of the scenarios is chosen simply as it was the force that opposed the Poles in the scenario we fight. However the boat stops there and all our games are written blind to provide an interesting situation for both side to react to and play with, in an historical setting.
I fact the only time I have felt unhappy with the 'end of a stick' one side got over the other, was due to drop outs on the day skewing the numbers quite dramatically and axioming the best laid plans of mice and men.
So, confident of their treatment as I am, I will had this over to the German players at our past games: would you care to testify for those who are unsure and give your opinion as to if you have felt like you were just 'targets' for the Poles at an event?
(of course if you are going to all shock me and say yes, you will also have to provide me with a 'what can be done different' )
Yes but the poles are awful shots so its never an issue.
The reality is the games are always very balanced. The overall scenario may have the Germans on the back foot but there is always a mix of actions for both sides. The Poles do usually come off worse though.

Absolutly no question of Germans just being there as targets, if Eagles was anything to go by a very well balanced game with plenty for both sides to do, Lipton also makes an excellant German commander and his breifings certainly help you get in the zone as they are based on the WW2 situation on the day not some airsofty go over there and capture that hill/flag for the sake of it
at eagles it actually felt like we germans had the better of the poles ,i never felt like a target.there is plenty of scope for an early war invading poland game if you want to tern it around.

i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
Yes, at Eagles I thought Poles were mainly there to provide targets for us?

Early War you say? watch this space... by this space I mean 'next year' of course
Craig writes the scenarios from the point of view of his interest, which is the Polish army. So the pre-match stuff from him will be very Polish biased. I say fair play.
However, on the day the game/event/scenario is very well balanced. So sign up as a German with no worries that you might be simply a target and get some interest going from the German view point. Herr Lip is a splendid comander of the proud German forces and I think we have given the Polish (and Americans for that matter) a sound thrashing on many occasions under his command. If it wasn't for Hitler and his cronies starving our front of the weapons and troops we need we could win this war!
If you think the thread is pro Polish then talk about the Germans at the battle in question. We're all sad enthusiats so you won't be alone for long before somebody pops along and adds to your thoughts and discussions.
indeed the two games i have been to were very balanced and fair with a command structure that meant that even if the sides on the day are un-even due to no show's they can stilt thing's back on track,no mean feat to control airsofters so well.
