Good, you weren't supposed to . Two men on recon, strict instructions not to engage - obs only. Mind, I was a bit alarmed when I was standing on the border and both of them came crashing through from the Russian side and crossed over to report to me having got a bit disorientated. Thank gawd the Russians had vanished from border and didn't see them emerging! The assault all came from our side of the border though, in a classic blitzkrieg, punching through one point towards the target. Our pathfinder nearly got wiped out though, starting the charge when the first arty round landed - not knowing there were three more rounds incoming. I might have shouted a rude word or two at that point.

Yes your words were choice, (thankfully it was not a Friday night in a pub, I bit my tounge till it hurt) . I knew exactly how many arty rounds were coming, I moved 10 yards up on the first of a rolling barrage so I could lead the attack from the front, as any good leader should know . You put me in as lead as I knew were we were OP was, I was just doing what I do and get stuck in. Shock and awe the Paratrooper way. They don't like it up,em.

In retrospect just a couple of rounds would have done - I'd forgotten they weren't struck-fuse pyro and rewiring up each round took blummin ages between firing - with a blitzkreig charge poised to go we were lucky the Ruskies hadn't reacted to the barrage and put a counter-attack together before the last round had 'fallen'!

As the Russians in the fuel dump, the artillery barrage was a bit inconvenient - I was distracted from my hot soup when the first round went off!

You Russians live dangerously and know no fear - building a blazing fire in the middle of a fuel dump.

Our orders were to sit tight in our holes, I think it was assumed that anyone out of hard cover would have been neutralised by the barrage.

So we sat in our holes.

Ive just found my 6 clips for sunday and to be honest (im NO cameraman) Craigs footage is loads better than mine. Ill give what ive got to Maulkin today and see if he can edit it into something better.
