Bought with the intention of stripping,re painting the shell, cleaning up the liner and adding leather chinstraps but house projects are taking up all my time and cash.
Shell is ding free, top layer of paint flaking, peeling to reveal what looks like WW2 Pea Green underneath so the shell could well be a WW2 dated one re issued(most post war shells are dated 1955). Missing as most are the top rubber/sorbo bump pad. Liner seems complete and the sorbo foam while it looks very dirty is still soft and pliable and NOT hard and crumbling. Sweatband has one small hole to the rear(moths dont eat leather do they?). The felt type padding under the sweatband has all but gone but sure I have some suitable replacement material but was common to remove this to make the helmet fit slightly bigger. Sweatband is dated 1956,made by CCL and stamped a Size 6 3/4. Leather is dirty and feels oily. NO chinstrap.
So overall a decent enough helmet, stored for many years it would seem and just needs a good refurb and clean or even just clean the liner up and whack a net with scrim over it,add a repro leather chinstrap and its ready to go.
Pics to follow. £85 Posted. If the shell turns out to be a WW2 dated one, that alone would be worth the £85.
Pics to follow later today-Thanks
Different helmet now for sale, not the one with the too small repro liner, advert edited. Thanks
Edit: Never mind, just noticed the size...
