In anticaption of December's game am pondering* rebadging as 2nd Bttn OBLI, for which this thread here has been most helpful.
The thread reads that the correct *small* cap badge can be dificult to get hold of. Has this proved right? If not can anyone point me in the direction of a supplier?
Cheers.
Steve
*though wifey might well have finished knitting the cap comforter by then!
I have no idea where to get one...
You have to search and search and search!!!. Sometimes they are being sold as an opposing pair as collar dogs (sometimes brass, sometimes silver). If you only find brass cet it silvered privately as per the original ones.

So you're saying they're the same as the collar dogs, or that they were the collar dogs?
They tend to be sold as collar dogs due to traders ignorance, but were in fact shoulder titles.
The following is an extract from the OBLI War Diary:
[i]“Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire War Chronicle - 1940 - 1942
Regimental Infantry Training Centre
From June to 31st December 1940
Early in August Lieutenant-Colonels D.C Colvill DSO MC, commanding the 43rd, L.W Giles MC, commanding the 52nd and G.E Whittle MC, commanding the ITC, met at Cowley Barracks and agreed on certain items which were circulated to all battalions, as follows:
Steel Helmet: a flash to be painted on both sides, 2 1/2 inches by 2 inches, of the regimental colours, as worn by the 52nd in the First German War
Cap-badges: small shoulder title horn to be drawn by the quatermaster from ordnance, silvered privately and issued to the regiment at 2 1/2d.â€

That's interesting (and helpful) - Thanks.
