Hello all, I recently bought a pair of repro Ammo Boots from Cost a Fortune, I've worn them whilst walking the dogs for a couple of days now (so about 3 hours wearing time) and i've already lost 2 hobnails and one screw from the toe plate. Does anyone have any methods for making all the parts more durable as this is really irritating me now. I thought of putting shoe goo in the holes then putting each screw back in, but I'm not sure the goo will hold the metal screws all too well.

Cheers guys :good:

the hob nail's constantly get lost or broken but i never had a problem with the screws.just buy a job let of hob nail's from ebay and i believe its best to wet the soles before putting new ones in.

armoury
m1a1 Thompson,sten mk2,mp40,stg44,sterling,mk2 bren gun,lee Enfield no4 mk1,Mauser Kar98, Walther ppk,smith and Weston m10 and Mauser m712
Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well

Yup. hobnails coming out of ammo boots is just the way things are....

Best to get yourself a Cobbler's Last (see antique shops) and a stock of hobnails.

Or... just put up with it, which is what most do!

Personally I have a last and stock of hobnails and tend to end up re-doing other people's ammo boots quite a bit. Less so now-a-days as I don't do british so much.

For the screws... see B&Q (etc) you want flat headed screws...

After a CQB game day today I was surprised as I didnt lose any hobnails, but the toe plate came off one of the boots (luckily I found it) without any screws so I'll pop down B&Q then get some shoegoo in the holes :good:

A CQB game in ammo boots... When I tried to do that myself I usually ended up slipping up and falling over.

For a fully urban game I'd really recommend some rubber soled DMS boots!

It was fully urban (an amazing abandoned semiconductor factory) but I didn't seem to notice slipping at all really, what was more of a pain was the noise they give off when trying to sneak up on fully tacc'ed up HSLD warriors in the dark rooms. :giggle:

:giggle: Got to have some advantage over these modern strobe flashy torches and laser guided tactical M4's :ghey:

Well what they'd do in WWII is put their socks over the boots... :)

Or they were issued rubber soled 'patrol boots'. To be perfectly honest I'm not sure what these are, but I've seen them mentioned in a few accounts. I'm guessing that they were crepe soled, rather than the 'Itshide Commando' soled boots.
