My first pair of ammo boots have a flapping sole with nails and studs falling out all over the place so, pending cobbling, I bought a pair of ammo boots from SoF as a stop-gap.

They are modern triple soled guards boots with the remnants of bulling that looks a right mess - cracked and peeling. I can't see it would be worth trying to restore it and anyway I don't need bulled boots - any ideas what to remove it with, without knackering the leather underneath?

Blummin 'eck!

yup, it (eventually!) melts off, just be careful not to burn the soles or stitching!

Move the boots in front of the flame, as the polish begins to melt, remove it and use the stiff brush.

Have fun....

Heh, they are out of the house now! And blimey, it worked!

I couldn't help feel a bit guilty though - that was probably a squaddie's years work I cleaned off in half an hour!

A lot of guardsmen will bang them on the floor themselves to crack them up before handing old boots in... basically so nobody else who gets them can take advantage of their labours..
