If i were to remove the leather liner from one of these helmets would it be possible to convert it into an airborne helmet or are these helmets compleetly different to airborne ones.

i have heard that they are the same helmet shell, different liner, so you should get a nice AB helmet out of it mate.
Yer i though they looked the same and they are very cheap, im trying to find out whats cheaper an Airborne loadout or an Infantry loadout as im very tempted by both of them so whichevers cheaper i will do.
Problem is where do i find a helmet liner to fit in it?
i know what you mean mate, i am 101st AB simple becouse i got the m42 jump suit for 30 quid, the rest of the load out however wasnt so cheap,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, i am sure someone will help you sort out a liner.
After reading the other thread about converting RAC helmets B&A said that there Tommie helmet liners from SOF fit into their RAC helmets with some minor ajustments, if the shells are the same this may work, and all i would need then is a helmet strap.
Well, I would say infantry would possibly be slightly cheaper, but the kit overlaps so much, and there's not much in it. Obviously, both need webbing, boots, BD trousers. MkII helmets are only about £30 I think, as opposed to Airbourne (or equivalents). You need a Denision smock for airbourne - about £90 for a repro, or £30 for a Belgian one - different camo colours. However, once you have the Denison, you can then do Commando too - just need a green beret. You can save money by getting a maroon beret instead of an airbourne helmet, too. You don't necessarily need a BD top for doing airbourne, but you'll have to shop around - depends what size you are. I was lucky to pick up a Greek BD top that fitted me, but many are quite small.

I hope whoever wins that Ebay DR helmet leaves it well alone as its a nice looking example-shame to destroy it

I doubt il buy that one, after doing some calculations i found that the WPG Denison is around £70 the Military Exchange’s Denison is around £76 and the Belgian smocks are about £50 so for £20 more it looks like the What Price Glory denison is the best bet, unless there is a cheaper repo i have not seen yet, i think starting with airborne would be better as PBI seems to use that kit the most, and i just love the way it looks also if i dont bother with a helmet its works out cheaper, are normal Berets the same as the ones used in WW2 or are they different ?

THe WPG Denisons arent the best im afraid and you could easily get stung with customs fees.
I know they are more expensive but if buying a Denison it realy is worth spending the extra for either a K&C or Rangercamp one ![]()

WW2 ones are larger than modern ones. I got mine from Warren.

Get a rangercamp... its by far the best deal.
Are these the ones from http://www.ww2classic.com because i cant find any prices or ways to buy them ?

You might as well buy the Rangercamp one from SoF now as they have dropped their prices
'Full zip Denison Smock' £99.99

Yep,SOF also do the half zip one for the same price im sure.
Are these the same ones ? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WW2-British-Parat ... m153.l1262 as £99 is a bit far for me to strech on the budget i have, what i want is a decent denison at an afordable price, which im gessing you cant get
it looks like i would just have to go for the look alike kit with a Belgian smock.
That looks like a Rangercamp one, but don't quote me on that. To be honest, once you've added on postage and the possiblity of customs charges, you'd be no better off than getting one from the UK.
You could also try the Wanted section - you never know.

Basically the way it goes is this...
£99 for a near perfect half-zip rangercamp ... or just a little less for something that is far from perfect.
There's not much in between and I'd really recommend trying to save the money elsewhere to get the little bit extra for the rangercamp.
I've got one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WW2-British-Parac ... 638Q2em122 the only problem with it is that the colour is not quite right but for £55 + P&P it's a better option than a Belgium smock.

Definately better than a Belgian but colours look very bright and its a 2nd pattern.
Whats the postage on one of these?
