Do any members know how the sizing of the old cast iron cobblers shoe lasts work? I am looking at ones on ebay and they seem to be numbered from 1 to 6, but as it is very difficult to work out scale from the pictures, I am not sure if I would be bidding on a size 3 child's instead of a larger one for my size 10 ammo boots! Any advice greatly appreciated.
Regards Chris

I had a look at mine, the only markings are a capital T in a circle with a short righthand branch coming out of the T (like a T and F combined) and by the bolt there is a small stamp or scratch - a straight line so conceivably a '1'.

The footpad bits are pretty small compared to my gigantic size 11 feet, but for the purposes of hammering back in missing hobnails it works fine, you just move the boot around a bit and the missing ones are usually in the middle anyway.

Cheers

mine has a clear number 2 on it ,none of the pad's are the size of my feet so maybe 2 is the middle size and a 3 might be bigger ? as mentioned by MartinR it work's well enough i just have to position it under the nail i'm hammering .

I've just bought a number three from ebay. I will let you know if it's a larger size when it arrives.
Thanks for the replies.
