I have been having a look around but thought I'd ask you helpful lot.
anyone got any decent modern boots that would pass as ammo boots, what I'm after is something that will be comfortable, has a decent gripping sole (my corcorrans are a bit slippery!) will fit under anklets, has a toe cap that aint steel, the bottoms don't have a scrap dealers nailed into them and won't cost me over a ton. (nor weigh over a ton!)
my punk mates have awesome boots that would fit the bill if they didnt go halfway up your leg and wern't £175!, even the 6-8 hole models are £125
sadly, gifford-newton who used to make footwear in my town for HM forces are no longer trading, as a cadet we used to get pretty good seconds for nothing, but a long, long time ago!
any ideas of suppliers who could save my feet from footwear hell?
cheers, stewart.

I find my DMS boots to be really comfy, actually, and they're close to ammo boots, if not absolutely correct.

DMS boots apart from the sole are as close to uf not identical to Ammo boots as you can get and can be picked up for around £10 upwards

DMS are dead comfy when worn in and don't take much.

My WPG Ammo boot repros didn't need wearing in were dead comfy straight away.

Basically don't bother with modern shite... ;)

Agreed - our second hand DMS boots are the comfiest we have, better than corcorans and our modern boots by a long shot.

You can get them from Sabre Sales.

I also bought mine from Sabre and they are indeed very comfy. Be quick though, they have a great big pile of them but the guy told me that they weren't getting any more in.

a local surplus stall has them, I will try a pair on at the weekend and see if they are anything like the ankle biting discomfort that I remember from my youth
