Comrades,
The Sun Bleached Webbing look has a beauty of its own, this is mine with Cartridge Carriers as I'm not Infantry.
The Braces, note how " yellow" the shoulder sections are once some of the the Khaki dye was washed and naturally sun bleached out a bit.

Note early Blue Enamelled Water bottle covered in Khaki sergi material.

( 60ºC salty water and a good hard brushing/ repeat several times with a drying in strong natural sun light, I stretched the webbing as it dried .)

For when I'm in the Blue, (some will note the WW I pattern Bayonet Scabbard I use, the Bayonet is still in its WWI dull finish, "a Sleeper").

No Respirator, that got lost during a "Scarper" at Sidi Rezegh 23th Nove 1941....

I only have South Africa BD to go with this , so I only play the Winter Battles or 41 and 42, the Bleached out Equipment look with the scrubbed Gaiters is a good one, with a chic of its very own.

Sten was never issued in Africa.

Never??

Pretty sure I've read an account of British Airborne using them. Now I just have to find it...

Martin, like this?

Airlanding training for the invasion of Sicily whilst in Algeria, which is in North Africa. :)

A bit of a stretch I know, but there's one there... ;)

Also used in some other British units who took part in Operation Torch.
So is valid for N. Africa just probably not for Western Desert and 8th Army.
So depends if you are going Left to Right, or Right to Left!

Comrades, I got my Re-pro KD at the Beltring Front last week from Cost of Fortune, I'm now washing and sunbleaching the Gummipuppe out of it.

It looks to be serviceable for my KDG self.

:good:

Awesome, would love to see a photo of your finished impression when you've bleached your KD and wearing your scrubbed and bleached webbing :good:

I worked the same magic on some MK 2 Universal Pouches Comrades, I rather like the effect, Loaded with Two Bren Magazines in one and a Bandoleer of fifty Rounds of .303 Ball in the other with the tools to arm a No 36 Mills Bomb, ( I'm getting some shape into the pouches by keeping them loaded).

Enjoy.

A pic of yours truly at a reenactment event here in SA

A pic of the youngster

The orange/red tabs are as worn by the SA troops outside SA, and in North Africa

And in our games with our Climate KD shirts, at least, are the minium you need to wear to cope with the climate. Wearing shorts is a bonus, though the veldt and rocks cut your knees badly.

That... looks... awesome, well done on the impressions, if only Britain had such a hot climate... then maybe we could have SA Battles, but we can all dream...

Weapons:
King Arms M1928 Thompson Submachine Gun
AGM Sten Mk.II
CYMA M1911 EAP

Nice use of a 03 Belt, most use just another 37 pattern belt as a trouser belt which looks lame and shows a lack of understanding of the period.

i dunno, i've seen plenty of period pics with a second 37 pattern belt being used.

Leather didnt fair that well in the western desert compared to webbing.

It looks better, two belts the same ? Yuk. It is unlikely it will dry out in our use, I have some great pictures of the Italiano also using 37 pattern Belts from Booty Stores of clothing, though I would do it myself as "Pavia" .

Whether it looks "better" or not, there is plenty of photographic evidence to show soldiers wearing two P37 belts. :)

I've seen also both belts used, but have seen quite a few pics of specifically SA troops with the leather belt. Martin Brayleys KD & JG shows to web belts on some Brit Troops. I'm fortunate in having a few books on the SA army in North Africa and it shows some of them with the leather belt.

The ones I use were issued to SA troops until the early 60's (worn prior to a stable belt) and in our hot dry climate tend to hold up well- so that belt is already 50 or more years old. Leather bits in our dry climate go dry but don't rot and if harderned can mostly be resurrected with saddle food and dubbin.

Lucky the KDG Supply Officer got us 03 belts, he thought they looked better Comrades, just luck of supply and what strings you pull I guess.

Still both gags work as it happened in the Historical Documentation of the Western Desert.
