Yes i decided to give the old bandolier a try today.

I took the advice onboard and managed to make it without carving up any period gear and also without a sewing machine (i used a hot-gluegun for the entire thing, its rock solid !). The fabric i got from a local fabric store, its a blackout curtain and is the closest thing i could find to '37 pattern webbing material. Its a bit thinner but of course that makes it easier to work with. Unfortunately it was a very light cream colour, i tried dying it with a few teabags but i think it will need colouring properly as its still too light.

Admittedly its hardly reenacting gear, its purely for practicality. Once its coloured properly i dont think it will look too out of place. Im still in two minds as to whether to create a flap of fabric to go over the top to cover the mags (think M16 bandolier). The mags are a nice tightish fit.

I suppose the acid test will be in the field seeing how it holds up. Im hopeful

NB - It still needs to be tidied up a bit

Actually, that's not bad at all.

It's by no means perfect, but should work.

I think you made the right choice with using the fabric you used.

Yeah thats pretty functional and will look about right at the ranges folk will be battling you at.

Good solution, the only possibly quick fix improvement i think i could think of would have been making a top flap for each one with velcro fasteners so they dont fall out if you're crawling around.
