I am after some 37 pattern gaiters that will fit over the top of my modern, fully non authentic gortex combat boots ! I'm afraid that I am drawing the line at ammo boots and want to retain dry feet, so does anyone have a size guide for gaiters ? So far all the ones I can find on ebay are "Size 3" which means nothing to me.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Size 3 are about the 'average' size that fit people today, so you might be struggling to get them on over goretex boots. Bigger than that are quite rare, unless you go for repro. You'd probably get a size 4 over them though.

Also, If you're not keen on ammo boots, DMS boots are cheap and readily available, and have a rubber sole. Them and a pair of goretex socks keep my feet perfectly dry!

Goretex socks are far wiser than goretex boots anyway.

Once goretex boots get wet they stay wet for ages, with socks you can swap them in and out.

When i was soldiering I used to use proboots but binned them as they were too hot in summer and if water went over the top they could get water logged - swapped to knee high goretex socks inside issue jungle boots and never looked back... lightweight, watertight, breathable.
