Heyy

I'm looking to do a Glider troop impression and was wondering what insignas to get to sew on my Denison smock (Unforantly it's the belgin on for the time being)

I've googled it and had a look on Epics and SoF insignas and they seem to do Para or Glider Pilot Regt. Does it matter if it's the Para? I'm guessing the Glider Pilot Regt was just the pilots?

Any insight on this would be grand

Thanks
JD

Edit: Would it make any difference if I used German Gaitors?

On the Denison smock there was no insignia apart from rank stripes, and jump wings. Glider troops were not jump trained so did not get to wear jump wings. Shoulder titles were worn on the battledress underneath. Glider troops would wear the shoulder titles of their regiment.

Hope this helps.

Here is our kit guide for glider borne infantry: http://www.ww2airsoft.org.uk/british-2n ... staffords/

Don't bother with badges but use the cash to buy some British anklets - sorted!

This topic should help and the link included:

I'd use the money you will probably saving on insignia, unless you're going to badge your Battledress too, on British gaiters which aren't that expensive.

Cheers
Charlie

I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.

Thanks for the quick reply and info :good:

I'll leave the smock as it is. As for the Tunic when I'm able to get one I would like to get the BD as Gloucestershire Regiment, which will need alot of research when the time comes(Lucky the Soldiers of Gloucestershire museum is close by :happyswing: )

Did have alooky at the kit guides, the 2nd South Staffords was abit overwhelming and the basic Airborne I've done but I'm just not happy with it. I'm trying to build on that kit so I'm more happy

As for the Gaitors, if I could use the german ones I'll save myself £20 as I'd be able to use em for both me kit's. Tho I guess the Brit ones will look far better

Thanks
JD

Yes, British gaiters are dirt cheap and much more useful than glider insignia.

I do have a discreet glider badge on my BD though :)

In what way, if you don't mind me asking? We've got loads of guys with very good South Staffs kit, there's plenty of people on here who would be able to answer any questions you might have?

I think he means the insignia. There is quite a bit on a 2nd South Staffs uniform. (it's all hidden under the denison though)

To be honest you're better off without ANY insignia on a British uniform anyway. Get everything else sorted first.

Insignia is the least important item of the impression.

Well OK... cap badge is important... but that's it. Anyway if you wear a helmet all the time, that's not important either.

Just the amount of kit

I've got the basic impression and I'm just gonna build up on that slowly, as for the insignas I'm not gonna be able to get a tunic any time soon by the looks of things

Thanks for the replys

Yup, it's a fairly common thing for people to not bother with the tunic anyway when they have the denison on.

Building on your impression slowly is absolutely fine. The basics you have shewn are enough for any Airsoft game. Where the 2nd S Staffs guide comes in is that it indicates what to get if you are developing above the basics. Please use it to try and avoid some of the expensive mistakes that people have made. Above all keep asking people about items before you get them to help you with what is required, what is nice to have and what is just too expensive to be worth bothering with. I put original (not repro) airborne helmets and denisons in the later category.
