I realise theres been quite a few posts on here about commando loadouts, but not really the information of been looking for.
Basically I havent the money to invest in a whole new loadout, so I'm just looking to supplement what I've already got with a few bits.

I was gonna go with unbadged battledress, basic 37 pattern webbing and I was going to get a cap comforter. Is there anything else I could add just to make it bit better?

Also if this is italy in 1943, what would the state of blancoing be like?

cheers

In Italy, you could either have blanco'd or scrubbed webbing - i.e. not just unblanco'd, but put it through your washing machine to take away the colour, so it is tan in colour.

You can get away with anything in Italy - wools, denims, a mixture of the two. :)

Nothing says "Commando" more than carrying a toggle rope about your person :D

At Salerno 41 commando were still issued with KD! BD had been returned to the quartermasters until the late autumn when they were reissued it.

Bit like having a stethoscope around your neck - immediately, you're a doctor!

Really, for a cheap as chips commando look you just need a different hat (well, you don't even need that really if you've already got a Mark II). Cap comforter or green beret for later in the war.

As Andy says though, a toggle rope can go a long way.

Hmmm, okay well I was thinking bout getting a toggle rope as part of my airborne loadout anyway :D

And KDs? Damn. Mind you I don't have any choice but to stick to battledress. Plus it might be better suited to an English summer.
And I'll get a cap comforter, but I'll look into getting a repro liner for my mk2. Though I always seem to get bad luck when it comes to things fitting my head.

Cheers guys.

With our summer so far, a leather or leatherette jerkin might be a good choice to pack

It wasn't pretty I tell you.
