Hello,
I have a Para Helmet (Fibre Rim) from Pegasus. The colour is quite light, it is a very light olive green.
On most WW2 pictures i have seen the colour appears to be darker. Was the colour changed at some
point during the war?
Thanks!
Yes, I believe it was.
Early war helmets tend to be browner than late war ones. Blame the Americans...
Ah, OK. So in the beginning it was more of a pea/light olive green. Later a dark green like on the american M1 helmets?
So i need another one for late impressions
get a net and some scrim, a bit of dirt and bingo, who will notice? i have 2 RAC helmet converts, they are slight different shades of green, but even yith cant stich count too much, they look fine.
If you decide to post a picture of your Para impression i will point out the wrong coloured helmet
green .
Hahaha Ok you won! Even though the green looks a little to dark
Yea mine is just a little lighter than that one.
I wouldnt worry about it.
If it really bothers you get a can of tamiya 'nato green', its a pretty good for WWII brit standard heavy kit green.

While we're on this topic, the pics in Ambrose's "Pegasus Bridge" show Howard and Priday wearing airborne helmets that seem to have a half-inch rubber band over the netting.
Thoughts?
Seen in pics of lads of 6th airborne (some airlanding mainly) on maneuvers.
Its not typical, Id not recommend it for south staffords.

I cant belive im helping But Scrim your Lids up! If you can get the bigger scrim with the larger squares wack that on then put the smaller squared one over that.
If its passed 9 there is a 95% chance im pissed.

No dont guys...
That's really *not* the look we want.
Its something the parachute regiment started doing in the 1970s and not very 40s at all.
Appreciate the advice Lewis but its not right for 1940s airborne.
