Hi,
I have recently purchased some SoF Blanco and whilst I have read the forums on applying Blanco and looked on the excellent Blanco and Bull website I cannot find any specific instructions for this product
Do I dampen the webbing first or just "paint" it on
any help will be gratefully recieved
regards

Well, the way I did it was to dilute the blanco with water to a 50/50 mix and paint on dry webbing. Looks fine. Others have diluted it less and put it on wet webbing.
Warren's own instructions for his stuff: "Dampen down your 37patt webbing, brush on the Shoot and Scoot Blanco for an even covering."
I reckon if you want a pristine 'parade ground' quality then use it neat, in a thorough manner, on dry webbing for an immaculate finish. However, if you are after an 'in the battlefield' look (and most of us do) then diluting/damping is fine for a 'worn in' finish. I think the diluted method will draw the colour into the fibres more, vaguely similar to proper Blanco, rather than more sitting on the top as neat does.
Hmmm, I still have Warren's new colour to test alongside SoF's product - perhaps I'll do a three-way comparison of Warren's as well (neat on dry webbing, neat on damp webbing, diluted on dry webbing)!!
Thanks, I think I'll have a go with 50/50 on dry
I'll post the results when done
Just pray for some fine weather over the weekend

Yes, as David says, doing it my way results in the raw webbing still grinning through the blanco a bit, which was exactly the look I was after.
I watered it down about 4 parts blanco to 1 part water to a 'milk' consistancy and ound it soaked in well into the weave and dried off looking like properly blancoed webbing (i've done enough sets in the last 6 years with both KG3 pucks and loose powder and it looks the same).
It doesnt however 'brush off' like real blanco if you go too heavy on it so you're probably best testing the mix first on a scrap belt or pouch.

Too thin is probably better than too thick. It's easier to put a bit more on than take a bit off.
Comrade, My Grandad, ( May he rest in peace) 5th Rece Corp , 5th Inf ( Yorkshire) Div told me..
Clean your Brass first if you are being smart.
On a really hot sunny day( his Div was in Iraq, Afghanistan,India, Palestine, North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France and finally Germany) so I guess he was used to doing it in the Sun most of the time..
If you are in the Desert just soak and shrub it and allow it to sun bleach. but if you are ordered to Blanco then....
Soak your Webbing till it is really soaked, the mix up the Blanco in an old cup so it is a thin paste like paint and with a paint brush or an old tooth brush for the difficult bits, paint it on... as the webbing is wet it will draw the blanco in to the thread weave.
You allow the whole to dry in the sun.
Now you will not get a "Guards" finish but you will get a useful working finish which is hard wearing and though wears off slowly it keeps its colour longer as you have dyed it in effect and it doesn't flake off in big pieces, so it is perfect for being tactical when pinging little balls at each other.
I use this method with my webbing, it gives you a very usable coloured set to a well used standard needed for field use, nothing worse than looking straight out of the box like a 30cm Dragon Gummi puppen.
Sorry for the necropost. I recently ordered from SoF, "Mid WW2" blanco, apparently meaning KG3. I got the bottle from the post today, and it seemed quite light green to me. I suspect it actually "Pea green". Does anyone here have experience with SoF blancos, and can tell me what colour it actually is?

A bridge too far
my bottle is the same as that and it comes out as KG3 not pea green
My thanks, kind sir.

Hehe, well, I was actually just referring to the fact that on the battlefield, you dress and portray a male role whoops

i am sorry McVickers
i am tired from all the lurking
and yes when i got hit in the hand from close range at fist of dust i swore so loud it made a call of medic somewhat redundant
On a note about the blanco though, my webbing is currently coated in the SOF stuff, though I'm not entirely happy with it. I don't think I've quite perfected the technique yet. though if Iget time before the arnhem game I'm gonna strip it all down and try again.
My results:
Large pack is natural, unblancoed. The -52 pouch is my test piece, blancoed with SoF "mid WW2", with 50-50-dilution.
