Hmm, it was the first idea I had about doing it, but given as we were supposed to be escaping after being routed I wasn't sure where I would have been able to procure a torch.

Quite an acceptable ruse - I didn't mention doing at as I didn't want to make the guards 'overly cautious'.
Probably should have given them a password though
A terrific weekend indeed; lots of fun with top levels of gameplay and sportsmanship all round. Well apart from the French/Americans assaulting POWs of course. The rifles format came up trumps yet again; it made the buildings even more fun to play around and as mentioned maneuvering rather than firepower became the key to any engagement. Especially when taken to extremes like our hike round around to the rear of the Allied positions. The combination of surprise and fortunate timing allowed us to take the village with minimal casualties. Scott's reaction when he ran around the corner unarmed into Steve and I is probably my favourite individual moment of the weekend. The look of horror and surprise on he face (combined with colourful language) was brilliant.
The small numbers made life difficult at times but didn't detract from the game in the slightest. I guess it (along with the tight medic rules) just made you all the more wary of getting shot as even one less person on the line could make a huge difference to the outcome of the fight.
The night game was great fun once more, even if I failed dismally. Still at least Charlie has now managed to get his own back on me. It is daft that Steve and I managed it there and back twice in broad daylight (once carrying 2 field phones a piece) without being spotted yet at night it was a whole different ball game.
Thanks again to Craig and Dean for all their efforts, its just a shame this is the end of the Polish series. What's next, the Free French?

I tried the torch method at The Mace so I knew it could work but it still felt like cheating a little. Thats not to say I would be above using it in such a situation however...

Well, if we're not willing to play the part that much, I'd have just run around the fecking village instead of right through the middle!!
Well apart from the French/Americans assaulting POWs of course.
I'm afraid I have to report Polish war crimes too, well, mainly Charlie who was a bit bayonet happy.
Cheers

You'd still have to come to me at the end and have me say 'yay or nay'.
It was 'acceptable', but not really the point. I didn't mind if a person did it, but it was supposed to be what you were all doing. I didn't think I needed to mention that, and I was right. You all played it in the spirit - like little cherubs.

Yes! I had words with that charlie, if he doesn't behave himself he will get his bayonet taken off him.
We should have just tried marching through en masse like Madness in One Step Beyond.
if he doesn't behave himself he will get his bayonet taken off him.
If he doesn't lose it first He showed me how it was held on with a rubber band.

hmmmm... Stop it you!
I did bayonet one wounded Kraut but mainly to spare him the tedium of waiting for a medic in a remote deserted place. He could respawn faster.

Many, many thanks to Craig and Dean for all their efforts on the Polish games, Chambois was another success and I sincerely hope that this is just the end of the Polish franchise rather than an end to all Wladek productions. Disapppointed I came to WW2 airsoft too late for Cassino.

Bloody officers and War Crimes Commissions always getting in the way of good honest fun!
I had a great time - masses of fun, very entertaining and with universally excellent gameplay from everyone, I wish I could have stayed for Sunday morning. Saturday evening went on later than anticpated but with the long days I should have realised it would. But there was no way I was going to leave before the end and miss the chance of catching Lardy yet again! My tentative evening plans were happily abandoned.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself, a brilliant event with great people. Thanks to all and roll on the next one, just wish I could make Monte La Difensa and Luga River Line.
Cheers
Charlie
I have a small skewer hidden in the collar of my jumping jacket, and a razorblade in my gaiter, as well as my knife.
Glad to here you all had a good time I presume the rain held off as it did up here.
Free speech is expensive these days!
Nah, it was raining on Saturday. Denim people got drenched.

yup it pissed down at exactly the moment that we were sitting in ambush for allied soldiers who had decided to wait in the village till it stopped ,but it cleared up later in the day and was fine by night and Sunday was glorious .

Give me a big enough hammer and a place to stand and I could fix the world.
i'll kill a man in a fair fight or if i think he's going to start a fair fight or over a woman or.......
a problem shared is a problem halved ,but an advantage shared is no advantage at all
if a job's not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well
An excellent event from start to finish. I concur with every word already said.
Right from the initial patrol to contact and ensuing charge... which Marsha fortunately turned away from and walked away before she realised it was happening... right up to the very last deaths as me and Lardy simultaneously bayoneted each other.
I wore denims when it was hot, and regretted it when the rain came down and the temperature dropped. But putting some BD trousers on underneath solved the problem.
I really hope the rifle only games don't end here!
yup , maybe the end of the Polish series but please not the end of Wladek's rifles games.

The allied soldiers deployed a squad of three Dragoons to ambush any Krauts, but apparently they buggered off to their barn and there was nothing for it but assault them there
Sitting there in the dugout with rain poring on me I was really afraid I'd fall asleep. No idea how long we've been there. It is possible that your ambush and out ambush were just 30m apart

Glad to hear it all went well. I'm now even more gutted that I was stuck at work.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

I blame Craig. He ordered me to leave my rifle on an ammo run!!!
Leadership eh?
I really enjoyed the game and maintain the rifles only format really does give a more WW2 experience and combined with the ammo limits and medic rules really gave a feeling of jeapordy.... I actually managed to hit some people as well!
I too hope that the rifle only concept doesn't disappear as it really is a different game to many of the events I've been too and definately has a place within the community.
So, yay!
