From Monaf
Hi Dave
As you may be aware Ai media partners a series of Nam games called Tour of Duty.
Next year we are planning a series of WWII TOD games and I for one would very much like to have CIA involved. There will be at least 3 UK site operators involved
Fire support- woodland/ urban
Elite - woodland
Airsoft world – woodlandLet me know what you think?(Kermit thinks it’s a great idea)
I want to be able to get an ad in the December issue promoting the series
Regards
Paul
Fine if he wants to have space in the forum but I don't want to have CiA involvement. We have our own distinctive program and I don't have time to get involved in others, nor want to lend the CiA name to an event where we weren't involved.
Quite why Monaf thinks there is space for yet more WW2 games beats me! The Vietnam thing was poorly subscribed this year.
Whether Paul will turn to PBI/Gadge for endorsement if we don't accept I don't know. I'm not even sure if that matters.
That said, I am open to further debate - there are pros and cons to this - its the cons that leaps out at me first!
Nam holds no interest for me I'm afraid. The idea of a "TOD" for WW2 sounds too similar to Josh's "D-Day" games to me as well. I might be up for playing a couple of them (depending on whether cock company turn up, or whether gadge has a hand in it) but that's it for me.
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!

Bit annoyed at that. When Paul phoned me, I said it was an "interesting" idea (the phrase I normally use when I dont want to commit to anything )
Anyway, bit of an idea. Some consultancy work as it were. We advise upon the gameplay side of things, but don't actively run it. Trade off? free advertising at the ToD stuff for CiA events, which can be billed as the hardcore side of WW2 Airsoft and an "in" with several more site operators.
Your thoughts, Gentlemen?
**edited for fuckwit spelling**
When we were a Kingdom it was run by a King
When we were an Empire it was run by an Empress
Now we're a country we're run by a..........
Good idea Jay. (I was just wary of a series of SISKS being billed as CiA events).
When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
I was lying in bed last night thinking about this, yes really!
I have convinced myself that I don't want to take up the offer.
The reasons? (In no particular order):
I don't like Monaf.
I don't want to work for free to help someone else make money. (If I did I'd want to clear a grand per event for all the time and effort).
I have committed myself 100% to CiA from day one - I don't have the time, money or energy to do anything else.
I don't want to command (or run) anyone else's events - I have had enough with D-Day, D-Day+2, Pocket, Gulch. Anything that isn't 100% under our control is a bad idea.
In all the time Gadge has been writing about WW2 in AI it hasn't made a ha'peth of difference to player numbers.
AI has a target audience of 16-18 year old noobs - not our market and of no benefit to us.
Associating AI SISK with CiA isn't a good idea - it is the antithesis of what we are doing.
ToD Vietnam stuff has been poor - I can't see ToD WW2 being any better.
We are 'in' with site operators all over the country with out collective contacts and reputation.
I don't have time for 'consultancy' - beyond CiA business I intend to 'fill in' with reenacting events as it keeps me 'interested'. Playing at other WW2 airsoft events is a low priority.
We don't need to advertise - we have built a community from scratch in three years and have a player base sufficient to run 40 player games that we want to play.
Josh has paid for full page averts in AI for his WW2 & Vietnam events and hasn't brought in the punters.
Sorry to be so negative but I really can't see any benefits to us or the community!
That said, I would be more than happy to give Paul whatever space he wants on this forum to advertise/organise/run his event - no harm in driving more people to the forum (who can look around and see what else is happening).
And there may be merit in an association if an international event were to be organised.
Just spoken to Guy and his comments almost exactly mirrored mine, in fact I could have sworn he was reading my list!
I can see pros and cons, but I suspect the cons would outweigh the pros.
Our association with Josh did us no favours, I suspect this would be the same.
It's interesting how Monaf has jumped out of Josh's bed now. What happened there then?
