Hehe, I hated having Boryszyn hanging over Christmas, hence my preference for a December game.

We need to examine this bio thing and also the fps policy - there are reasons for everything and we could do with knowing the reasons behind it (and possibly work around perceived problems).

OK, had a good chat with Lee and then Rob.

Lee is the site manager and doesn't get involved in game organising. Rob is the game organiser and doesn't get involved in site operations.

Anyway. The long and short of it is that FPS limits are up to us. I mentioned that we play up to 500fps and he said "Ooooh, that's lethal isn't it?" :slap: I explained about our player mentality and engagement distances and he seemed happy, although did say that due to the urban nature of the site, a rifle with a MED might be useless.

They insist on Bio BBs. The currently use Green Devil 0.2s but may look into Biosphere from Airsoft World, which are currently £10 for 5000: http://bit.ly/9XSPBZ

They also do a 'sniper weight .28g for £13 for 3500: http://bit.ly/9VTaGh

Thinking about it, if we were to recommend lower fps on rifles (and many people a warming to this idea anyway to get around MED) then these weights will be fine, in fact I'd be happy for people to chrono rifles with 0.28s at 350fps as a compromise (1.58j). We'd need to recce the site first though, obviously.

Their next open day is 27 February, which I can't make. Then 27th March. They're also happy for us to pop down on a non-game weekend. My free dates:

20/21 Feb (at a push)
07 March (after 1.30pm)
14 March
20/21 March
27/28 March

Good stuff. I hadn't realised that bio ammo isn't outrageously expensive so I can't see that is a problem.

I'd take the stance that if players really want a sniper role then no problem, 500 fps it is. But given the urban location players with 350fps rifles/AEGs will be of more practical use.

0.28g @ 350fps is equivalent to 414fps with a 0.2g bb so this would require a MED - might as well say 500fps with MED, otherwise 350fps no MED (@ 0.2g, pro-rata other weights)

I should be able to do the 7th March. Might still be a tad hungover from my brothers wedding on the Friday though

Argh. Can't make the 7th now. Bro's wedding on the 5th, then off up north for a friends Birthday party on the 6th.

Typisch! Having just asked who's coming I got an email from my other event in Gloucester (which was scheduled for Sunday morning) telling me it had been moved to the afternoon.

No worries, I've confirmed with Heide and SO Airsoft that we are now going ahead at 11am on Sunday morning. FYI, Kerstin will be in tow.

I wont be there. Bro's wedding on Friday, followed by a mates birthday on Satuday means i'll be in no fit state to drive anywhere come Sunday.

It's only a preliminary look anyway. The site may be wank and totally unsuitable. If it's any good, plenty of time for more visits.

Well, the recce today was pretty unfruitful.

The site is small (25 acres) half of which is pretty much open ground, no trees and only brambles for cover, with only one narrow bridge into the industrial complex.

The industrial area is only about 50m x 150m and there's no access to any of the buildings as they're deemed unsafe. Once over the bridge, the gameplay would bog down into tiny areas of action, command and control would be difficult. The industrial area is full of brambles, asbestos and covered drainage areas. There are two avenues running the length so an MG or sniper sat at one end would dominate.

Also, there are buildings and areas that are still in use so therefore out of bounds, but no way to indicate this, so marshalls would be needed.

Will post pics later.

Sounds like a no-go to me. Thanks for taking a look though!

Unfortunately, it was possible to "see" a game there, just not one that would run all day, so, not really suitable for our needs, unless all of the buildings are suddenly opened up for play. Might be worth PBI's while doing a game there, as they can script it and control what areas are used for their style of game and when.

It's a shame, because it's got great access, lots of hard standing parking, a good safezone and run by nice people.

Bugger, no much use as an urban site without access to buildings from our POV. Thank you for the recce.

With the country covered in redundant factories you would have thought there would be something suitable. Lightfighter and Phoenix packed the punters in when they had urban sites!
