I'm slightly concerned that our current set of rules for weapons that are non-period is a little wooly and open to being abused.
(Actually I've just looked back at it and its not that bad...)
Anyway in order to avoid disputes I propose that all players with non-period weapons be asked what gun they intend to use and should be handed a card at registration on the game day which tells them the way in which they are allowed to use the weapon they intend to use.
So, there would be:
"Bolt Action"
"Semi-Auto"
"Full-Auto - no mags with capacity greater than 600 rounds allowed"
"Full-Auto when deployed with bipod down. No shooting at all otherwise"
We can then also restrict the number of full-auto weapons in the game.
I know its not ideal and can see problems with it already... I may even be overreacting, but I'd like to brainstorm a bit on this nonetheless!
I think the game at Close Action should open our eyes a little to how well this might work.
Comments?
All looks pretty clear to me.
All we need is the booking-in desk to ask what weapon they have, remind them what they are 'really' carrying and it's restrictions.
Convo: Name? Do you need any pyros/ammo? Are you having food? What is your gun? - That is £45 please, you are carrying a full-auto MG42 and you have a 2,000 round limit unless your squad leader/commander says otherwise, it must be used deployed.
Or something like that - it will only take a few seconds more.
Thereafter squad leaders take responsibility for their men.
Hmmm you may be right... Though I'm not sure... If we end up with tons of people with Full-Auto non period weapons then it may be a bit odd...
One thing this definately raises is that one of us MUST be present at booking in... If nothing else to check off the names of people attending on the sheet that has the deposits on it.
Perhaps a rep from both sides would be a good idea?
Only needs one of us at booking in leaving four others to get stuff sorted and go round pressing the flesh... personal contact is going to be very important esp those we don't know.
Ammo limits and fire-rates can be changed at will - either at game brief or via command structure. I agree that 80% of players on full-auto will be a bit poo so there is nothing wrong with sorting squads of four or five and allocating one with automatic, the rest with single shot (say). But this would be done at game start rather than at booking-in, as we need flexibility.

Which is why I recommended we have one person from each side at the booking in table with Gucci. This way we get to meet everyone and find out there names.

Yup... fine... but we need to work out how its going to work before the day and won't know what weapons people have for sure until we ask...
Well, the best place to start would be here. Post the explicit rules regarding gun types.
Then mention it at check in and repeat at briefing.
If someone wants to cheat they will, inevitably some people won't listen but most will and will understand what we are trying to achieve.
I think it's really important that we we explain carefully our reasoning behid certain rules and regs, i.e. it's to make the game better for YOU the players, so if you cheat you're only making it shite for yourselves.

As you say H/S. It is here on the booking thread AND on the web site - but some folk don't read and some don't listen either. Still, if they are reminded at book-in and squad leaders take responsibility then I'm sure it will be OK.
I daresay someone will forget to switch their gun off full-auto when they should be on semi, but hey it's not going to ruin the day as on the first squeeze on the trigger they will be reminded by their nearest team mate. Accidents or forgetfulnes maybe, cheating I doubt.
