Just a quick straw poll of members to see how many people we have on the various sides. (Yes you can select all 3 if applicable.) [edited to allow you to add extra loadouts as you acquire them.]

No, I didn't miss them out... stats for the three common nations are all I was interested in, at this stage.

Each to their own Porta, I wouldnt do German, but have respect for you guys who do... like Heide said in another thread, somebody has to play them for the events to happen, Germans don't neccessarily have to be "bad guys"

I've toyed with the idea of doing german, Im just not sure its for me. I love playing the part of a US paratrooper, Im forever adding stuff and changing it to make it more personal..

Although im british i dont really have a passion for anything brit WW2. I think i musta been a US paratrooper in a former life or something.

I've played German several times with borrowed kit and have enjoyed it immensely. I hope to play German at our member's only game in April, but will have to see if that's viable from an organisation POV.

You love being a durka in the lurkah steve!

I have a very 90s film portrayal sense of the war, such as the Germans don't all seem like 9 foot tall, blonde haired blue eyed Nazis (like the films from the 60s/70s) The Germans in Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers are portrayed as soldiers just fighting a war (which is what they were), not Hitler's best mates... 8) However I dont think my mum would speak to me if I ever got German gear, and it just doesn't do anything for me!

The whole perception of Germans being "bad guys" is only relative, and somewhat biased in most accounts because we are prodominantly 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation British from the war, my German mate from uni refers to his Grandad as a war hero, much like I did about mine. But that doesn't make him a lover of all things evil!

Don't forget they did portray them as a tad sinister in SPR the bastard did shoot Tom Hanks after he stopped him being shot with a BAR, pistol and Garand.
Not disagreeing with what you're saying though, prefere how they're portrayed in modern productions.

ANYWAY: US only for me, not chosen for the easy or cheapness of kit. I had the M42's before I even started airsofting, I just find that it suits me and I don't feel a desire to try any other kit. Although I may reorientate to a different weapon soon, I'm finding the Thompson less and less fun to play with. EDIT: Also find the American kit a lot more comfortable.
I did play Brit at Arnhem, however for lack of use and simply no funds to maintain two kits to what I would consider an acceptable standard one had to go...and the Brit BD's made me sweat! Needless to say, I have a huge amount of respect for people who represent the Brit Paras, my Grandad jumped in to Normandy and received a shrapnel wound to his wrist which still troubles him. If he hadn't been sent home then, and he'd ended up at Arnhem...I wouldn't even be here!
Had some gruesome stories off him though...interesting facts such as "Sometimes when you sticked em with your bayonet, the blade would get stuck on a rib and you had to stick your boot on their chest to get it out..." After a momentary silence I said lovely and carried on eating tea.

I've always done German, mostly because I like the camouflage and I like being the underdog! Been tempted to do an allied loadout but, with current axis numbers, it would leave my SS comrades short of manpower. I think the E&E game next year will be a good excuse for me to get some allied kit.
