SCENARIO

“France’s Other D-Day”
15th August 1944: 2 months after the landings in Normandy saw another amphibious and airborne assault on French Soil, this time in the South of France. The airborne and amphibious assault took place on a number of beaches along the French coast between Cannes and Hyères.

The invasion was initiated by an amphibious assault by elements of the U.S. Seventh Army, with a follow-up force made up primarily of the French First Army. Despite being a large and complex military operation with a well executed amphibious and airborne component, Operation Dragoon still remains largely unknown to this day.

Due to the unfortunate situation that meant that the Kasserine game had to be postponed, the Doughboys have changed the venue and game for this date; hopefully one which will allow those who have purchased US and German tropical kit especially for Kasserine to use it. Should the site become available for the Kasserine game, we intend to look into re-igniting the game on a future date.

“D+1 – Dragoon Rising”
Following on from the successful landings near Saint Raphael and Frejus, the 36th Infantry Division had moved in-land encountering pockets of heavy German Resistance. In the orchards in the hills overlooking Frejus and the coastline, the German 148th Infanterie who had taken a pounding the previous day from the US Naval bombardments, threw together their next defensive line in a sheltered wooded ravine.

PLACES
20 – US Army: 36th Infantry Division
20 – German: Kampfgruppe based around the 148th Infanterie Division
Limited French FFI places.
An additional 5 places per side may be opened up depending on popularity/teams balancing.

Argh! I've just put a 1st Infantry badge on my M41 AND painted a red "1" on my helmet! Damn you Matt!

Well done for arranging an alternative, I'll be there. :good:

That's ok then, as long as it's not just me! :happyclap: It's no problem to plonk another badge on my M41, I've just found original 36th patches for under a tenner. :happydance:

hehe, theres a site in the US selling them for about $9... but looking at the 'limited' few pics from dragoon, it looks like the US chaps are wearing HBTs (some with M41s) but they aren't patched. On this basis I was thinking of recommending that folk didnt re-badge their jackets for this one, as the 36th patches are quite hard to find at an affordable price

This is a battle I don't know a lot about. What would the Germans be wearing?

You've got nothing to ein, zwei, drei, vier

Quick question. Is this an all day rolling scenario, or a sequence of shorter games?
