Hi all

Need some help and advice please.

Just starting to do a FJ loadout, i am not looking to re-enact but want to be close for a skirmish.

I have bought a Splinter smock from Epic, but i am on a very tight budget and wondered if anyone could suggest a pair of trousers that could be used on a 'looks like' basis for £25 until i can save for a pair of jump trousers.

Other thing is they will have to be 42-44".

I did wonder if i could get away with these under my smock?

Hopefully i will be trading my M16 for a Mosin Nagant (i know its Russian but its a bolt action, which i like the sound of using), until i can save for mp40 or mp44.

Other help appreciated on what the minumum i should get it, i really want a helmet and cover to. I will not be able to wear any insignia due to my work and problems it may cause.

the purist will tell you no, there not correct. but worn with gaiters, they would pass at a distance of 10 metres, and in my book thats good enough.

i put together a russain outfit for less than 40 quid in 2010, brown polyester trousers, a side cap and a greatcoat hid the fact i had on black canvass pants and a green t shirt underneath. i used my black german belt, and my k98, but in the dark tunnels it was good enough to "look" russain from a short distance.

a few people go to great lengths to look "just right" , and thats great, but getting it "looks like" will do for most events. :good:

good luck with it :D

Depends on the colour of the trousers and what year impression you going for. I'd go for green ones if you're looking for OD trousers

My fallschirmjager kit I've got the Smock off SoF, Post war Lufty officer trousers and brown leather webbing. Boots I use are 95 British assault boots, I blousen the trousers.
Will get some gaiters some day as I'd need some for my up coming Lufty and Heer kit (will be buying blue and green).

As for the look alike, inless you're like me and have to get most details correct, you'll be fine. Got a look-a-like Brit Airborne kit. Don't believe anyone will tell you you're wrong at events ect

Hope it helps
JD

The best advice I can give is to save your money for a pair of proper FJ trousers if you plan to buy them at some point anyway. At £25 you're a third of the way there so you might as well wait and get the correct thing than buying now and regretting it later. People are normally very willing to loan kit if you want to get to an event before you can afford the trousers.

If you can't wait a pair of postwar trousers (either lufty or the grey ones epic sell would be ok for M37s) worn with gaiters would be ok for late war( either colour is ok for late war FJ although I'd recommend Richard Underwoods over others as they're much better). Of course then you have to buy the gaiters as well which eats into your trouser budget and as dagda says you don't need them with springerhosen.

You won't need gaiters if you go for high lace up jump boots. British Combat Highs are a similar pattern to second pattern FJ boots.

Cheers
