Interesting find - bought a size 03, hope it fits!

I've also bought a size 03, before I bought it I found some pictures of the labels for size 01 and 02 Jerkins and they were;

Size 01: 5ft 3ins to 5ft 6ins, Breast(over jacket) 37ins to 41 ins
Size 02: 5ft 7ins to 5ft 10ins, Breast(over jacket) 37ins to 43 ins

so hopefully a 03 should be good for 5ft 11ins to 6ft 2ins and upto a 45inch chest.

That looks like a post-war one... Actually in vinyl rather than leather.

The thing to look for is the fact that the "leather" appears to be in one piece rather than in loads of random bits stitched together (which is more normal).

The ones Springfield have in stock aren't leather but they don't look anything like these (they are much more rigid and thicker).

Still, we couldn't resist a bargain could we!

Well yes... I'm hoping to be proved wrong...

One thing did occur to me after posting that.

The reason (I think) that the wartime ones were made of seperate bits of leather was because they were made from scraps of leather. This was due to a shortage of decent sized bits of leather during wartime.

The seller says that they're actually post war Belgian. I guess it's possible that at that time there was more leather available and hence it was possible to make them from single pieces?

So, probably not 100% pukka, but pretty f'ing close!

Look to be a decent set of Corcoran Jump boots in size 9 - I'd be bidding but I've only just got my new ones.

I've already put this in the CR area, but I thought I'd add it here as well, a supplier of Repro British, American & German rations.
