Danke! To all for a cracking introduction to WW2 Airsoft for me.
Thanks to josh and all the crew that helped run and set up the weekend and the Allies for being good sports!
And especially thanks to the FJR2 boys for welcoming me to their ranks for the weekend!
.... On a side note... Does anyone remember what that headache inducing German beer that Lutz had on Friday night was called?
Well I think it has all been said, but thanks to everyone for organising and/or taking part in a great event.
As the days pass, more and more memories keep coming back to me of some really epic moments. The battle up the hill was a long and hard slog, almost ending in victory, but then the call to retreat came through. Retreat? I had just made it into the top trench, keeping my head down and throwing my last grenade at the enemy position. Then I realised that the Germans had flanked us and taken out our rear defences, which was well organised and saved their position. As I tried to get the hell out of there alive, I got shot in the back as I moved back down the hill. It was only then, from my wounded position on the hill, calling for a medic, that I realised how many reinforcements had arrived and I, like many others, were not going to make it!
I can honestly say that I have never been taken out so many times my grenades... Sometimes by multiple grenades coming in at once. This was probably the most pyro-fuelled day I have ever been to... brilliant stuff from both sides!
Looking forward to the next one...
Pedro
