A question: what is the use of the tabs on the scabbard?
I don't have para BD trousers, what are the other options for wearing the knife? I've seen it worn on the right side, on the belt. Any other ways?

You can use commando trousers like this:
Or you could put it in a bayonet frog.

What Yith said and the tabs are for stitching the scabbard to clothing when the knife is worn hidden. This would be more in SOE's bag than commando or airborne. The knife may have been little more than a fancy can opener for most troops with one.
