I think the concerns aren't so much about your honesty (or any other overseas member), more that there are doubts about the legality of sending RIFs to overseas countries (what is allowed and what isn't) and the risk of loss in transit (and who bears the risk) and the risks of damage (or claims of damage). All this, and probably more, tend to make it "more hassle than it is worth" when kit can be sold more easily at home.
So no reflection on you, just that a seller would prefer to sell within the UK - especially as very often it can be delivered personally or via a friend of a friend.
Yup, not so long ago I had an offer on a gun to sell to Italy. I said no, at which point a chap in the same town as me appeared and bought it with no hassle at all.
