leaving the black one on a living history group wouldnt put it on if they never wore it that way
Heh, I'd much rather go by period photos or period accounts rather than modern photos or illustrations - seem to be thin on the ground though...

Talking to a reenactor today in tropical kit, depicting HG, and he had a chest eagle on tan and was of the opinion that the eagle backing matched the uniform unless there was nothing else available, in which case anything would do...
seeing as am doing a late war one think i will leave the black one on cheers dave
